My Grandmother got done for this in NSW years ago.
There were trees blocking her view, so she rolled over the stop line to where she could see, then stopped.
The officer said that you must stop at the stop line. If you cannot see, you can then creep forward until you can see, but you MUST have stopped at the line first.
