I think your confusing enthusiast with hoon. Seen one burnout seen em all.

IMHO the glorification of the burnout has been the worst thing to happen to the hobby of modifiying cars in the past 20 years or so and I reckon the blame lays with the media, Street Machine magazine in particular. Compare it to Hot Rod magazine in the US, sure they still show burnouts but they have also been instrumental in getting SEMA off the ground and establishing lobby groups to help governments understand the sport/hobby and protect the interests of those involved.

Where is that same level of support in this country? Instead we have the general public thinking every modified car has a criminal behind the wheel and a chirp from a tyre is car out of control being driven my same maniac hell bent on destruction who has no concern for they're fellow citizens. :

Still, I guess they're just in it for the profit and no one ever went broke appealing to the lowest common denominator.
