I don't like your chances.
1) the car was not already owned
2) You job does not require the driving of restricted vehicles e.g. mechanic etc.
3) You are trying to manipulate the situation to create an artificial loophole in a law that has been designed to specifically prevent you from doing this.
4) You work at a law firm, firstly they do not need to be seen doing something that can blow up in their faces should you have an accident, even on that was not your fault, and your passenger is hurt.
The law is in place because too many inexperienced drivers got into vehicles that were way above their capability with delusions of exceptional driving skill and went splat.
Just go with the flow as the life you save may be someone important......
