I'd say that if someone does fall victim of this scam and they don't hear anything back from the crooks, they will contact the police and then be informed of the situation.
Maybe the guy with the XF Falcon Ghia who said a few months ago that I was driving a mock up GT-P at the servo has something more to say to me
