Hi everyone,
I hope this thread is ok in here. Mate looking at a 99 au1 xr6 auto with 80000km, I don't know much about the au's, I think this series brakes are not the best? An easy fix? Basically are these cars ok generally, any very common/expensive faults? Sorry if this is all been covered, I looked in the "common problems with the au" thread but its just huge and was also interested specifically in the xr6, maybe the tyres/suspension setup is expensive to maintain compared to the standard suspension? Thanks so much guys! Craig |

Its a s1. I personally wouldnt buy a s1 of any car. Id look at a s2/3 they look alot better imo and in a s2/3 they get the lil bugs out that was in the s1. But generally people are goin for a s2/3.
Dunno if that helps at all.

As eries 1 XR6 ewith 80000km on the clock would be a good buy for around $8k. It will then cost around $1K to upgrade front brakes to BA/BF/Territory spec.
There is nothing at all worng with the AU series 1s, apart from looks (and brakes), but as it is an XR, then the looks are all good anyway. Suspension is the same as every other falcon if it's an HP - if it's a VCT, it gets IRS which is the better setup anyway, and not really any more expensive to maintain than standard setup (upper shock mounts are an issue, but can be replaced at reasonable cost when they do wear out).

The XR's in AU's were already pretty reliable sorted cars. 1999 build makes it one of the later build AUI's. If it is the HP, suspension issues shouldn't really arise if at all. JC has already covered the IRS side of things.
That sort of mileage is well below average, heck it's even got lower mileage than SVR73's XR6, which is saying something!

Only by 3,000 kms mate.
Looks of the S1 are really cool if they have the whole kit and bi plane (nothing wrong with single either) However most don't and they can look a little unfinished if it's not low to the ground
