Default Holy crap.... CLOVERFIELD WAS AWESOME!!!

Just got back from the first screening here in my town, cinema was packed.
This move rocked! There was plenty of humour, lots of suspense and drama.

Overall, I'd give it a rating of 8/10.
I would've given it better only I thought the ending could've been drawn out longer and explained more.

I guess its a love/hate movie, maybe I'm one of the few who loved it but I don't see how people could bash it so much.
Just to clarify, the movie was filmed in a 1st person perspective similar to Blair Witch so if you can't handle shaky camera movement you probably wont enjoy this movie much, but to me it adds so much more tension being "in the action" and made it more realistic.

The special effects in this movie are simply amazing, it had me wowing the whole time at all the destruction and carnage going on, especially how they recreated new york in complete and utter chaos with all the buildings collapsing.

Everybody in the cinema seemed to enjoy the movie also, there were lots of laughs and cheering as well as silence during the scary parts.

Only bad parts I could say about the movie is, the ending was poorly conceived and the movie was pretty short.

Great movie IMO. :

Hmm hard to say.
Put it this way, I would definitely go see I am Legend, Cloverfield, hell even Alien vs Predator 2 all again so they are on even playing ground.

My Brother saw it last night and was pretty impressed by it. He said the ending was pretty average though.

are you kidding? that was the worst movie i have ever seen. you cant even compare it to i am legend. the whole movie was exactly the same the whole way thorugh and then just stops with no ending. The whole cinema i was in was very disappointed. i give it a 3/10

Not what i expected either, they could have gone into the alien/monster scene abit more, like where they came from, better close ups etc. Abit more horror would have been better also ie like what happened to that chic when she was lead away into the tent by the troops, you just kinda see a blood spray and that was it.
IMHO i give it a 5.5 out of 10. It didnt really shock/scare me

I want to see this on the weekend. If the ending ends similarly like Legend did, I will be most disappointed. I'll see cloverfield only for the cgi.

I'll give it a miss if it's all handy cam shooting

After Blair Witch it felt like I'de been in a car with a hangover and an open drum of fuel going through a huge set of twisties

Default Just saw cloverfield

My god that movie is awesome, had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, little short though but still a great movie.

Loved the idea of the whole thing being shot from the view of a handy cam

9/10 for me.

Saw it today was pretty awesome but I still rate I Am legend being the better of the two. It starts off a bit slow but really kicks in the middle. The CGI is some of the best ove seen and the sound effects are mind blowing. Some awesome gorry scenes too. The ending was dissapointing. Over all 8/10.

This sums it up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX2VaVtFYfs

I think you missed the point, it's not meant to have a story line, it's just a random event that happened and some one happened to have a camera handy.

I loved the movie, had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

In "I am legend" I think only one or two scenes are filmed with hand-held cam.

We had a few club members go to the drive in last night... Some parked in field a few parked in the second field.. I believe that at least 10 out of 13 didn't like Cloverfield (us smart lucky ones that parked in field 2 got to see Chipmunks which was absolutely brilliant).

A few then came over to watch I am Legend and most liked that one, but I found it a bit boring and weird in places (or maybe I was simply too tired to enjoy it properly)...

Default Gangster

The shorts look good for that one, I watched American Gangster last night, excellent movie, I did some research today on Frank Lucas the main character, the movie is very accurate to his life, also saw Legend which I liked but Gangster really holds your interest Russell Crowe and Denzil are both excellent and can see why they are tipped for an oscar.
Another movie coming out is Mr Untouchable which is about a drug dealer in Harlem at the same time as Frank Lucas, he boasted that he was Untouchable so Pres Carter sicked the Feds on him, he did 30 years and is now in witness protection program after giving evidence that put 50 plus people away including a lot of cops.

I saw it yesterday with friends. It was a great movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole movie. I wish though at the end of the doco/Camera part it actually explained where it came from and the end result..... did it survive?

Bah... watched this sorry excuse for a movie last night, and it is without doubt the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune of paying to watch.

A few people walked out of the theatre halfway through, and quite a few were demanding their money back afterwards.

I think the only reason so many people have gone to see it, is because of the strong advertising, and the mystery of not knowing what the movie is about.

I should have let the missus drag me into 27 Dresses instead :(

yeah i went on thursday night

too many questions and too few answers

i think it would have been better as the second film in a trilogy or something

i did have to laugh when it started and half the people in the theatre thought the projectionist had stuffed up the film though

There isn't enough detail. You never learn what the creature is, what it really exactly looks like, where it came from and at the end you never learn if they beat it or not. Boo.

4.5/10 from me.
Ah c'mon!! Appreciate it for what it is!! The beauty of a movie like that is you don't really know whats going on...thats the whole point...you're not a fly on the wall, your Joe Blogs public and just as confused as the actors playing the characters...thats the whole point...I can appreciate that kind of thing
