That sort of power means big work has to be done. Id be expecting like a gt30r turbo or the like with full decked out block, heads, exhaust, ecu. So many mods that if you got put off the road you would never get back on it.

my mate has a 200sx S15.

He loves it.

They are pretty good handling wise
Power is average in stock form but as soon as you do add on mods, you can get good gains.

Do your reasearch on them. Speak to people on the nissan forums.

Big power is attractive, but you dont know if it has been a drift pig or burnout thrasher. Check ALL receipts for work done. Ask the mechanics who have worked on it what its like, what has been done, and what it needs.

Like any vehicle, it requires some homework, especially if you dont know the history of the make/model.

Good luck

if its a show car its probably only dont a few burnouts on the street in front of the shop. but you might want to look out for how many k's the engine has got on it as alot of the show cars have a bunch of bolt ons which are all blinged out and no internals done. Or if it does have some internal mods make sure it was done and tuned properly, hey it might even be better to get it tuned when you pick it up if you do

can we see a picture of this Un thrashed showcar with 340rwkw please?

Also it would be very difficult to tell you what the car drives like as umm it has more than double the factory power output and i assume it has different wheels and suspension.

how fast would it be? again stupid question. if it was as easy as dividing the KW by the weight of the car then the drags would not be required. i might as well say 4.0 after all there is no way to tell.... GO DRAG IT AND GET A TIME SLIP!

So all in all no one here can give you any help at all about anything.

Then just dont reply, move onto another post. I don't want to see it get like the LS1 forums in here where your not even allowed to ask a question less you get flamed with a million " use the search button, that's what its there for" replies

Agreed.
I'm pretty sure people on this forum have got xr6t's and other cars double the factory output..
Its a general question, thats what 'the pub' is for.

Yeah tregs 340rwkw's sounds massive for a s15, it would have to be running heaps of boost to achieve that so get someone to check for engine wear. It would weigh about 500kg's less than your xr6t so it would fly. Ask the seller for papers of the dyno prints and then take it for a spin and if its not as fast as your xr6 its bs.

My mate from town owns a s15 200sx japanese import non-turbo, which makes as much power as a turbo varient, with 20's. it is awesome, doesnt have the turbo kick obviously but the interior is awesome.
Send us a photo of it mate.
Cheers.

340rwkw is a fair bit for a 200sx.. would want to be 100% sure the engine has been put together properly, no corners cut etc. im guessing it has an rb26 conversion?

The S15 Silvia is a brilliant car in stock form. There are so many mods available for it, it's crazy.

There is a member here, bigAl, who's got a 180sx with 254rwkw. When he bough it it only had 212rwkw and I can tell you it was brutal with only that much power.

BUT, with changes to turbo and cams, the power comes on alot nicer and earlier than before, and all in all, gives a very linear delivery compared to the 212rwkw setup... alot less lag. What I'm trying to say is this 200sx has 340rwkw but how it delivers this power is very important.

Take it for a drive to get a feel for that much power, but the test drive won't give any indication how reliable this 340rwkw set up is. You're better off consulting the Nissan forums.

I had a 180sx with 300rwkw HKS 3037S turbo, running Elf race fuel and 28psi boost.

pic here.

insane to drive almost scary, traction was tough even with slicks. Ran low 11's at heathcote before breaking input shaft on the gearbox. Jap import so unaware of the internals, beleive the engine did eventually let go after a while. Even though the SR20's are strong I would say for that power would need to have been completely rebulit with forged piston, rods etc. Good luck.

i was gonna say there are alot of SR20's with that sort of power and running those sort of times. Croydon racing developments has the fastest 200sx(sr20det) with a stock rear end in the southern hemisphere, does 8.8sec quarters although i admit it probably only weighs around 1 tonne flat. its a dedicated strip car, and i would say around 80k has been thrown at it.. i think its running a T51R with custom mods to it

I dare say it runs on race fuel to get 340rwkW. If those figures are true, however, the thing will be a rocketship.

If your really set on that car and can afford to fix it if anything goes boom then i'd say go for it. but if you can't and you just want something fun to play with buy a 1997 180sx, do some nice bolt ons(CAI, intercooler, full exhaust, pulleys, maybe a turbo) and you'll have a good fun 200rwkw+ car

Get it, it will be heaps more fun than a BA to drive hard.

If its SR powered then its gonna be a little laggy if it makes that power on race fuel
If it makes that power on 98unleaded then its gonna be REALLY laggy (and is probably running a Greddy T88).

They oversteer like a demon stock, so that thing is going to be nuts.

340rwkw from a 2 lt =- hand grenade imo. Just a matter of when.

Sure if it's just for the occasional Sunday drive, but normal usage vehicle I'd stay way clear of it.

Remember power is relative to RPM. Often show cars are configured to make torque at a very high RPM for the sole purpose of producing a high number. Such vehicles are normally called "dyno queens".

To demonstrate X power an engine requires Y torque at Z rpm.
To demonstrate X power (the same) the engine requires Y/2 torque at Z*2 rpm.
To demonstrate X power (the same) the engine requires Y/3 torque at Z*3 rpm.

In simpler terms three engines, one developing 100nm at 12,000rpm, one developing 200nm at 6000 rpm and one developing 400nm at 3000rpm will all demonstrate the SAME POWER, 125 odd Kw.

340 rwkw at 10,000 rpm++ is fairly useless in a car other than to look "good".

Make sure that the engine develops reasionable torque throughout the entire rev range or it will drive like a two stroke and get smoked at the lights by shopping trollies.

i very much doubt it will be revving to 10,000rpm. SR20's with that sort of power would be only allowed to rev to max 8 grand - that is unless you've thrown an insane amount of money into the internals

For an SR to have 340 flywheel or rear wheel KW, the internals will not be stock... With the right work the SR can spin to 9000rpm. (Speak to the drifters!)..

Try finding your way to www.nissansilvia.com .. Those guys should be able to help you out..

Where are you located? If the deal falls through and you're in Victoria, a friend of mine is selling a nice black one for $25k. It's listed on carsales.com.au in the suburb St Albans.
