Finally, a motorsport event that I can compete in on equal terms with my fellow man (and have a remote chance of winning):
http://www.shitboxrally.com.au/ Before the mod squad gets uptight about the use of the 's' word, this is the name of the rally, and it is for raising money for cancer treatment and is supported by the Cancer Council of Australia. So it's a serious event, not a ****take. The only thing you should get annoyed about is that places are all filled for this year, and that you'll have to wait until next year to compete. Sad face. In fact, this seems similar to the American 24 Heurs De Lemons except this is in the bush. Quote:

The only issue for me going in this is that it starts on the other side of the country and ends in the middle...

I have been wanting to do something like this for a while! Oh man looks like an adventure.
I remember watching a bunch of cars leave from Roselands bus stop for a bash 12-15 years ago. Have registered for 2011. |

I knew I should never have sold that Sigma. Would have been perfect for this.

Would love to give this a crack.. Something along the lines of a cheap datto, early commodore, old hilux or trusty old XF falcon would be the go I reckon..Cheap as chips, plenty of spares, last forever and super easy to work on.
Mmm maybe a few of us fordforums members could throw a few cars together

Maybe get 1 or 2 teams from each state and then we could have a rally in a rally state against state : Jason

I'd be up for representing QLD!
Seems like it'd be a blast! And for a good cause too!

As the name suggests, a rally specially designed for Commodores.LOL
I have done one of these rallies, it was the Endevour Rally which sounds rather similar to this, we did the Rally in a XC 302 Fairmont wagon and it was one of the best things I have experienced. So if any of you guy's get the chance to do it,then do it, you will have a ball. |

I'm all up for it, I've had years of experience 'rallying' (bush bashing) shitboxes through all manner of terrain, backroads, and windy dirt roads. Sand & pea gravel are no problem for me.
Perhaps AFF could assemble a team ro two to represent us, and hold tryouts?!? Otherwise I'll get into it with some mates. I've been dying to get into one after seeing the 24 hours of LeMons from the US and the banger rallies from the UK. There's a group of guys who do this for fun in Bendigo, but I haven't tracked them down,. |
