I love the term street driven. It usually translates to "Full drag car that i attempt to use on a public road".

Front runners, full slicks and a roll cage. Deffinately a street car.
Nonetheless, apart from not really being a street car, thats an awesome time, very nice numbers.

with 420ci single turbo on pump fuel and that size tyre is very impressive car........
Tyre dosent seem much bigger than most mini tubbed capri's going around and its a QLD car??? the rules there are much easier to drive a car like that on the street but man its got to do some sick power skids on the street lol

great car. as long as its all engineered then not a problem. the only thing probably would be the cubes to weight that is all. not sure on QLD rules, but, in NSW it was 4.5cc times the factory weight (1050kg). which works out about 4.5L max with turbo. i think its even lower now u may not even be able to go a 3L turbo.

I wasn't trying to take anything away from the car. It is great and yes it sure looks a lot more street able than other cars. I would think in nsw it would not be able to be engineered because of the cubes and the noise and the rest would be small things... As most would know if your number comes up and the police want you then hang on!

Cage isn't based on "points" you can have a cage extending to the front, as long as it gives the required headroom, and there is no side intrusion bars. Notching can be engineered aswell.

Its my idea of a true street car, Doesnt run hot, is driveable in peak hour or the highway, tyre size is not over the top, full trim and glass and best of all runs on pump fuel.

I think you'll all find that the car is engineered in QLD. It has been for quite some time, and it gets driven on the street. Street tires, 2 seats, pump fuel, mod plate, runs in a street based class. Definately seems like a street car to me.
You can argue till the cows come home, but lets face it, thats one tuff street car!

Yes anything can be engineered.
I might have a crack at building a 55 chev with a 27 litre Rolls Royce Merlin engine......................

Yep, it's a bloody awesome car. More recently it's run 7.7 at 181mph. Hardly seems possible on leaf springs, but it does it well. Favourite car of the year so far.
Stu seems like a nice down to earth guy too. |

Id have to add my two cents in on this one , I know stu ,i used to work with him and i still buy all of my perfomance gear through his shop. He is easy to talk to, help you out with anything type of guy. I have seen the car drive on the streets of toowoomba and a number of times ( even past our own work shop in town, we just about fell over mind you because the weekend before he had just cracked his first 7 and here is stu out driving the capri) in saying that to run 7s in any car you wont have the drivablity of your mums camry, let alone on a tyre only that big, with leaf springs and pump juice ( he does have a full street exhaust for driving dutys) It just goes to show what you can do with a plan and a well thought out car and the right people on your side.
Congrats to Stu a on a truely awsome car and his 7 second time slips. Just my 2 cents Cheers Dave. |
