Yep our Maltese is 15 this year, was my wifes 21st present, he's had the best life as mums a chef he eats well, never and I mean never had any can dog food which I believe has helped with his age. Now he dosnt hear as good and also not 100% on the eye sight either but knows his way around the house.

15 years he has been apart of our life and were glad he's still around and has recently seen a new addition to the family with our first new born.

My little doggy was 14 when she passed away just recently. Jack russel with a bit of foxy as well i think. Not as old as some but she got around alot...survived 4 car hits She was one of the ones that ate well too...my best mates dad loved her so much one day she came around his place by herself and he cooked her bacon and eggs while the grill was still hot. Good little dog she was.

We've got a Maltese terrier going on 9 years old now, oldest dog we had was a cross EVERYTHING dog and looked like a German Shepard, he lived till he was 15 from memory.

Uncle takes the cake though, his little dog is nearly 20 now and still going strong.

Thanks for the posts guys.....

Yeah, my Foxie is getting on in age, with the main problem being his teeth starting to go and he just isn't as active anymore as he used to be. To be honest, it is worrying me, hence starting this post.

Just as an observation, it seems like the smaller dogs are actually living longer than the larger animals. I wonder why that is?

Dunno, maybe less stress on their bodies, organs etc.
Strange really because most of the little dogs I have had know have been small in stature but big in balls and attitude, usually without a sense of fear.

I've got two pure bread Rhodesian Ridgebacks, 8 Years and 2.

Dogs of there size (large bread) you usually get 10 years out of.

The bigger “giant” breads (ie mastiffs, St Bernard’s, ect) 8 years

Our Ridgeback club gives out Certificates to dogs that get to 10, the German Shepard club here does the same at 12 years.

The bigger the dog the shorter the life.

Enjoy them while you can.

I have two children, both are young ones.

There is Matilda (Tilly), an Australian Red Border Collie at 10 months old, she is only a little girl at just over 15 kg but she can run.

And Clancey (Pants Man), another Border Collie and is just short of 10 weeks old, we think he is the ying/yang dog because of his half white face. He is going to be a big boy as his feet are already as big as Tilly's.

Tired now, playing was too much.
