just wondering if anyone has any pics of preferable and ef/el with convo pros on?
im actually thinking of being VERY different and putting some on my car : . i would probably have 15x4's on front with 15x8 on rear. was also thinking of having a 255 tyre in maybe a 65/70 profile.( as 255 i believe for a falcon 15inch rim is 255/60.) anyway, just throwinf the idea out there. cheers. :

Convo pros are a classic tough wheel not normally used on E series because they are not that tough. 15x4's are actually illeagal on the front as they come out with 15x7's. Im not sure those wheels would look any good but if you already happen to have a set go for it

webby, i'm a loser for not knowing what that disgraceful wheel is? hahaha.
They belong on bogan driven XF's cos the drivers can't afford anything bigger than 165/75 rubber ....

There is a very clean, very low red ef gli that gets around Bendigo with a set of fat and skinny welds on it,and looks quite tough. If you cars got the nuts to back the look,I'd say go for it.

I had a set of weld pro stars on my El fairmont for a while when I first got it I put the 3.5 inch frontrunners off my coupe on it and had 8s on the rear with 265s of my mates XT. Mine is pretty low and it looked really tuff, it just did'nt have the go to match the look. Now I have 18s on it.
If you have the dollars to do it and your car sits right I say go for it. |

I had Convo's on my EF Futura (white) about 6 years ago, 6" on front with 205's & 8.5" rears with 255 x 60's. Was something different at the time, looked ok but i put FR17 simmons on instead, way better suited. Convo's went onto the XB. Didn't get a pic of it which im pi$$ed off about because your not the first to ask about this on here.

a guy a few blocks over from me used to have a gun metal EF with centerlines.
that looked really tuff and he had tinted tail lights too. i say go for it, sounds like you will anyway. if it looks crap then get something else.

We had a guy here with a red ef gli on ultralows with 6's and 8.5's looked tough and different. You want to try them mate, go on be different it will look good. I ALMOST BOUGHT THE CAR IT LOOKED THAT GOOD . since then he's sold car without the wheels and the next guy put 5 spoke 17's on it and never did look as good. :togo:

i've put 225/60/15's on the front and 15 x 8's with 265/50's on rear of my Sprint and they fill the gaurds out nicely (and only just under them). Old school i know, but i despise pram wheels...until i find a set of original Sprint or SVO rims.

Front runners have no place on a road car IMO, nothing like taking away a whole chunk of your stopping and turning ability

thanks for the input guys. i still think im goin to go for it. with how low the front of mine sits, ( well past top of tyre at front) and how low the back sits (the same) i think a 15x5 rim is what i need anyway. so convos it is. probably put 15x8.5 on back with come taller 265/60 on back. will post up pics when its done.
just want to be different thats all.

Convo's a a classic drag style rim that should remain the domain of X series street machines... XR to XE fine, but nothing post early 80's unless it a drag race only vehicle.

id say go for it , i considered the same thing once just to be different as i had a tough as vr berlina (i know commodore!!) and a set of original centerline autodrags kicking around but with the front runners i couldnt turn properly doing u turns and on roundabouts the front they just wanted to go straight and skip across the road, id just put 205s on the front as the real skinny tyres just dont like turning maybe because of the mix of 185 and 265 i think they were from memory.

Convo pro's are the ultimate wheel. I have loved them since they came out. True, they do suit earlier models but on the right late model car they can look just as good. Depends on color, ride height etc etc..... Last but not least, the car has to sit right. Not too high and not too low.
