No automatic, they'll lose all of the girls who cant drive manual. (I guess that would be a decent size of its market)

not the case, its aimed at the hot hatch segment and that tends to be mostly males. There is no need for an auto in te XR4 just like the XR5

Im hoping to buy an XR4 in a few months

Small cars, with plenty of go about them seems to sell alot these days. The people out there just dont have the respect and want for a big car with rising fuel costs and what not. I only 22 but the only thing i want in a car is a ford badge and minimum of 6 cylinders, preferable 8.

Be a great little car but it's a little too small for me. Would love to get an XR5 Focus though.

Fiesta XR4's official release date was 1st of June and already many dealerships have sold out of there supplies because it appeals to the younger generation offering them a) A FORD b) Competitive price for whats on offer (Leather, Body Kit, 17's, 110kws in a 1090kg car, superior handling) Good Bang for Buck c) Has a prescene that would put more expensive cars to shame. Check out www.fordfiestaxr4.com for more info. In the European market it is a hot seller and everyone cant stop raving about it. The same thing will happen here if people give it a chance.

I myself have been in one on a spirited drive and i was speechless. Love everything about it. I prefer it over my bros Polo Gti (direct competitor). Will i be buying one?? HELL YES. Why would I buy one??? because i have no need for a car bigger than 4cly or with 4 doors, and its fits in with my lifestyle. I have been in a fair few 6 & high powered 8s and love some of em but im not about to join the egotistical people community.

Take one for a drive and see for yourself. Give it a chance. Its still a Ford.

I can see how some small car owners would be scared of something with real power.

Anyway I saw one today they look ok but for a 2lt hot hatch 110kw seems a bit low.

Fiesta ST = Fiesta XR4 pretty much the exact same car, minus the stitching in the seats and scuff plates. But mechanical wise the same.

OH PLEASE! I drive a manual, as does every other female I know. I myself, may not be the norm as its a V8 ute, but out of all my female friends that do have hatches, not one is an auto.

sheeez.

Hmmmm thats a big statement, and when you run out of puff our V8's will be still steaming on and sound much better while doing it, anyway yeah they do look like a nice car, not my cup of tea im not a small car fan, though id prefer a Golf Gti or R32 <- thats a real hatch alothugh much more expensive.

I should have said in twisties and not come across as meaning in a straightline. A Golf/R32 it at the top of the hothatch segment, but then again it is not in the same category as XR4.

Compare apples to apples please.
Can we all agree that a 6 or 8 is better in straightline (generalisation) and a XR4/Mild -hot hatch is better in the twisties (Generalisation). No point having a winge about either one.

Back to topic.. Yes i am up for a XR4, not right at the moment but in 6months Sea Grey or Blue.

YOU AGAIN!

I can tell why people comment like you, you need to compensate for your short commings! as said, its not the size that counts, but the way you use it!

when you compared the 2ltr engine, what did you compare it agaisnt... a turbo falcon with ARP chip and the works....

if you had some smarts and compared it with something else in its class (DUH!) you would of found out thats its directly on PAR with everything else.

the polo GTI has a 1.8ltr turbo. 110kw! its priced MORE than the XR4!
the ford focus has the SAME engine yet the XR4 has 3kw more and the focus is ALOT HEAVIER!

In the UK the Fiesta ST is the XR4 here. ford Aus took the same car in the UK which is the fiesta ST and the Focus ST which are XR5t and XR4.....

so yer.. Fiesta XR4 = Fiesta ST!

The XR4 can't quite match the Polo Gti for torque though - the benefits of forced induction . The XR4 looks better imo.

Polo GTI = 110kws + 1190kg = 92kw/ton (220nm) - $26999 (base)
Fiesta XR4 = 110kws + 1090kg = 101kw/ton (190nm) - 24999 (base)

Both have good power to weight ratios, XR4 obviously more but with less torque. Still great bang for buck (Stock). Polo with a simple 2000 can give you 152kw @ Wheels +330nm where as the XR4 for 2000 will get you 130-140kw @ Wheels.

My comment was in response to a big car owner comment... Read back and you wil find it.

Its more a case of over compensation than under-compensation.

It's quite a neat looking little car. I'd definitely consider one if I was to look at a small hatch.

Thanks for the great analagy, i had a fun reading it over breakfast... :

But i am jealous, i'm still aiming for the ST170 as my first car and now the XR4 and XR5 have changed my plans...

What a gun car to look at, especially in white which is a very good talking point... "My car looks great in white" cant be said by many people...

The weight of this car with 110 KW will make it very nippy..

Gotta love the "it aint good enough cause its missing 2 or 4 cylinders" comments

Typcical FalCOOOON owners!

Just like the XR clubs that wherent allowing XR5's into the clubs cause they where manufactured or what not at the Tickford factory... what a CROCK!
/rant!

any who

The ford fiesta XR4 as stated b4 is aimed at the Hot hatch market.

This car can out handle any of Fords Falcons on the Twistiest of roads. it handles like/if not more than the XR5 - as standards go.

110kw in a Small hatch that weighs just over a tonne is great. and the Availability already for Mods to take it up to 150kw NA is pretty respective.

This little car is better than the ST170, but not as good as the XR5. (as if youd expect it to be!)

With a really Revvy engine and a decent amount of torque this car will definately bring a smile to your dial when you drive it!

If you want proof of how this little rocket performs, just you tube "Fiesta ST" and see for yourself.

Wow I don't like too many small cars but that really does look great (in white too as said). And the performance and features look damn good too, I nearly want to buy one, I bet it would be a really fun zippy car to drive.

Despite being the owner of 2 'big falcons', i still drive the fiancee's Fiesta almost everyday.
Believe it or not i love driving it... Cheap on fuel and handles like a go-kart in comparison with the XR & XY.. Im guessing these XR4's with the 2L would go much harder too...
When the fiancee is ready to get rid of the 05 Fiesta we will be looking at the XR4 for sure.
