Default New exhaust coming

So anyway thanks to the magic of eBay I have a rediculously cheap exhaust coming (extractors, cat, and cat back), that doesn't seem to be too bad quality. The extractors use the cone over pipe joining system and the cat-back is a 2.5" mandrel bent item with a single straight through muffler (can you say 'loud'?). It is all bolted together.

So I guess it's off to the dyno for me. These are the runs I have had in my car already.

1st run (auto, dead stock) - 136rwhp
2nd run (auto, no intake, bonnet up) - 148 rwhp (bonnet down 145. Somehow, even with all the heat)
3rd run (5spd, dead stock) 150rwhp

It should be noted that the performance difference on the road after removing the intake (for test purposes only) was negligible, but with the 5spd the car is vastly better.

So I'm guessing that with the exhaust I should be nudging the 170-180 tread neddies.

My guess-O-matic is also telling me that my previously hand timed 16.9 (auto, stock, two-up, but cold with little fuel in the tank) @130-ish should be into the 15's, between the exhaust and the 5spd.

Hell I might see what I can do about forcing some extra air down it's throat, but that can wait till later. Safe to say it won't be conventional.

Is this the exhaust you bought?

I'm thinking of getting one and would like to know what it's like.

Yeah that's the one. When it gets here and it goes on I'll be posting about it. More than likely dB readings, idle-redline times, and any issues I have,

that 1 off ebay is jsut a catback, you will only gain 2-3kw out of that, if you're putting extractors and a new cat on as well you'll get more

yeah. I haven't bothered to order mine yet, my holiday would interfere with taking delivery.

Sgt Bourne: I don't really care if I only gain 1kw. The rear exhaust on my car is falling apart (literally, the section between the diff and rear muffler/resonator rusted through completely. The rest of the car is strangely unaffected though). The stopwatch will tell all anyway. I imagine my 15-95km/hr (1000-5000rpm in second, or thereabouts) test is likely to show what improvements there are, if any. With a large rpm band taken over a (relatively) long time, improvements, or lack of, will be plain.
