Default AU mont running like crap!!

Sigh...

I have removed all the turbo gear off my AU and reset the computer. Currently as it stands it has the battery in the boot, and a catch can setup. That basically all that is different to what it was before i did all the useless work..

The car is now running like absolute crap! The belt is screaming like crazy.. so loud.. so annoying. So that will be changed shortly..

The next problem is the car is starting too stall on idle and occasiaonly when slowing down for intersetions / lights etc. It looses revs then dies.. Not fun.

It is possible that it is the battery in the boot, but im not sure. So i will be moving this back up the front as there is no reason to have it back there.

Also it is blowing a little bit of smoke now when i give it a bit of stick. I am going to re-plumb the catch can setup to try and stop this from happening.

There is also a ticking noise coming from the intake manifold. I replaced the gasket for it not long ago and the blots where done up tight enbough, but still managing to tick..

Any suggestions guys?

hmm putting the battery in the boot can cause issue's, cause when its in its proper location it acts as a noise suppressor, and removes unwanted pulses caused by alternator etc. so the further you move it away the less suppression their is, a lot like putting large capacitors on amps.

But as for blowing smoke? How much smoke? if you remove the oil cap and pvc valve from rocker and put your hands over both do you pressure? If so i'd be doing a comp test, may have damaged a piston.

My experience has been that the car runs richer on battery reset .This would explain the smoke and the stalling. The bigger cam and reset have made the computer not able to compensate/adjust back to better settings. The fix now is to get it retuned or install the stock cam. I believe this to be the problem

That makes sence stav, but why would it do it this time? When i first installed the cam it ran great and didnt fault.

I plan of going a bigger surecam soon. So i might put the stock cam back in and wait until i get the new cam. Then get a tune then.. Bit of a pain though.

There isnt much smoke at all apperntly. Tiny tiny bit of smoke that was "grey". Wasnt sure if this was from being rich or from i crappily installed catch can as grey/black normally means fuel yeah?

yep, sounds like it may be just running rich for some reason, what other changes were done for turbo kit? As in fuel reg etc.?

Everything that was done has been undone apart from the catch can and battery in the boot. It also has the dev4 cam installed, but has run fine with it before.

The car as PULP and octaneboost/anti ping in it.

Bah i also forgot to mention!

The exhaust is rooooooted. The muffle it dented and smashed (one of my mates is a dumbass and didnt try removing it correctly...!)

I will be taking the car down to get a new muffler and the exhaust tidied up next week. Could this help in causing the car to run badly?

I had that cam in the car as well as Fordau6gal. Her car developed the same symptoms and so did I. Mine only happened after the battery reset.Once installed straight in it was fine until the reset. Then it needed a retune.

And a damaged exhaust if causing restriction won't help things in the running rich side of things.

Well i will replumb the catch can and check earths etc. Then i will get the exhaust fixed. (im considering getting some pacies/hi-tech headers and a high flow cat while im there??)

If this doesnt work, i will put the standard cam back in and save for a surecam/ big crow cam and get a tune.

Thanks for the advice guys. Seeming the dev4 didnt do it last time, i didnt think it would cause these problems this time.

I had a similar problem. Computer reset, and I had problems trying to idle. Just bump up the idle screw on the throttle body, till it runs nice. Small black screw with some white paint on it.

Cheers
