Default Nissan GT-R Official Australian price announced

http://www.caradvice.com.au/17105/ni...icial-details/

Quote:
-David Twomey

Nissan Australia will begin taking pre-orders for its iconic supercar, the Nissan GT-R, from the opening day of the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, next Thursday.

In a press conference today the Managing Director of Nissan Australia, Mr Dan Thompson, ended the speculation about just how much the GT-R will cost Australian buyers, announcing that their would be two grades of GT-R

The Nissan GT-R will cost $148,800 and the Nissan GT-R Premium will cost $152,800.
Let me think for a moment... $152,000 for a GTR, or $155,000 for a glorified Commodore?

How many GTR's do you think will be brought here?
Would it be as exclusive as the W427

You obviously have no concept of what a GTR is. It is in every respect a true supercar, evidence of this is in the fact that it is out performing the more traditional supecars. That concept actually makes $155k pretty good value when it out performs cars of more than twice, often three times that price.

How can it be a glorified commodore (or nissan family hack equivalent) when it is not based on any lower spec car and is in effect a stand alone model in its own right? This beast was built from the ground up with one aim in mind, mind blowing performance. A design brief it has fulfilled in every way.

You may find the $155k for a glorified commy is in reference to the W427, not the GT-R

How did you read that so wrong!!!? Come on man, read what he said again carefully and then post what you really think he meant.

Or perhaps he needs more than 13 minutes to realise his mistake!

I don't think there is a need to cast doubt as to my reading and comprehension ability. Especially considering my profession requires massive amounts of study of literature that many people would have no hope of comprehending.

It was an easy mistake as there was no other reference in his post to the W427 other than a price, considering this forum has a reputation of members slamming cars such as skyline as nothing but tarted up base models.

Anyway, I appologise for the boo boo, my bad!

Also, it is not known as a 'skyline'.

And what on earth type of job do you have which involves night shifts ending at sunset?

I doubt you'd find too many people (with the money to afford either) who'd seriously consider 1 or the other...

They're 2 vastly different cars to suit vastly different customers..

I heard from a reliable source that there is going to be 230 in the first delivery to Australia, 14 of which will be coming to Adelaide.

The first Australian road registered grey import is already on Adelaides streets.

GTR > Everything else this side of 220k. Makes the W427 look real pointless.

Though i gotta say paying 150k for one is pointless to you can get an imported one for about a lot less right now.

At least they might get some orders this time, R32 was a big time flop.

Should be good times ahead, I just hope a team put one up to the test. At least it will be a production car, not like the 427 monaros were.

NOt a bad price considering that I could buy one right now for $170k.

I have seen this car and its honestly a better buy than a GT3 or the like at half the cost, and quicker too. This will be the new benchmark for performance cars I have no doubt.

What are the service intervals for a current model GTR, and how much do they cost?

Something as highly tuned as these is going to cost a bomb to run(???)

In the context of the answere to the above question - the 155k sticker price probably seems resonable ...

I think it comes down to the old saying, if you have to ask you can not afford one. I would hate to imagine the insurance cost, only limited insurers would touch it and even then it would only be if you have both your paternal and maternal great grandfathers as referees as to your driving skill.

Word is the engine needs a rebuild to respray the plasma on the bores every 12 months, and if the in built GPS has detected you have been on a racetrack then your warranty is void if it is not immediately serviced by a Nissan technicion. ie. an oil and filter change. That is what happens in Japan, I don't know wether that will apply to Australia or not.

Some people find all this hard to believe but it is for real. They are very highly tuned and the running costs are pretty phenominal.

I thought it was plasma recoating on the bores at 100,000kms...

And I beleive the speedlimiting is gone for Australia, and the GPS doesnt know any of the racetracks in Aus.

And PMSL at GTR being called "Hairdressers car" above....so, does that make the 997 991 Turbo, 430, Gallardo all hairdressers cars? Hahahah

The racetrack update will be retro fitted to GTRs coming here.
This price of 148k is not including the LCT. Final price will be around 170+.

There are prices of the first service going around indicating it could be in excess of 1500AUD. This page which I can't understand has a break down of the costs The tranny fluid alone costs $600 for 5 litres.
Service intervals are every 6 months or 10000km.

The GTR is NOT a Skyline. It wasn't built from a donor car, it is a unique platform to the Nissan family.

What isn't known as a skyline?? If your saying the R35 GT-R isn't a skyline, than that is like saying a G6E or XR8's aren't Falcons.

Correct me if i have misinterpreted

Well, officially it is just the "Nissan GT-R", it is a continuation of previous skyline's, if that makes sense.
