Hi all,
Well i have been having problem with my series 2 XR* 200kw. The codes have been scanned and the error is Cam Angle Sensor. I have just got off the phone wityh ford and they have qouted me 10 hours at $110hr. Oh and that does not include the sensor. So as my mechanic can't do it, can anyone point me in the direction of a good mechanic who can do it cheaper than Ford. |

Depends on what PART of Sydney? If in the Penrith Area I would tell you to go to ALL West CV, Phone 4731 2083 and ask for Darren or Jason and see what they say?

10 hours? To remove the engine cover, remove the coil packs, clean the top of the block, remove the cam sync, replace it and then refit all components?
6 hours MAX, and that includes the calibration procedure. Daniel |

What problems are you having with the car? I pulled the engine cover off on my xr8 the other day and found the wires to the cam angle sensor have snapped off. The engine seems to be running fine though...
Just had a look at the Ellery's manual and there is no way it would take 10hrs to replace. I cant see how it would take more than 2 hrs?? |

Yeah but just cause the fault code comes up as cam angle sensor doesn't mean a great deal, these also suffer from worn timing chains which then put the cam angle sensor out of alignment, we've had one here from memory it had only done bout 200,000kms too, put a new timing chain on did a reset and no more cam angle sensor fault.
But its a job that shouldn't take anymore than 2hours to replace the cam angle sensor, at which if it is the actual sensor that is faulty, u can get away with just replacing the sensor itself, as in the top black half as long as the bottom is worn enough in the bearings that it has caused the trigger to hit the sensor.

Ultra Tune in Townsville just replaced my CAM angle sensor last Thursday and charged me $107 for the sensor and 1/2 hour labour to fit it. $150 something dollars. That included the diagnosis as well. Its a real easy job. Ford are ripping you off.
