Default Just saw "Love the Beast", what happened with the 2 XB's?

Wanted to know if anybody has knowledge of both Bana's red XB and the other guy from tasmania that showed his XB (was in pretty average condition at the time), and if they have been rebuilt/restored.

If you are not following me, one of Bana's mates wanted to buy this XB from the bloke but he refused to sell it as it was 'priceless'. Thats the XB I'm on about.

At the end of the film, it said that both cars have plans to be re built.

Cheers.

The other one is owned by a guy a beaconsfield, just north of L'ton, not sure if he's rebuilt it or not.
Can't remember the guys name.

great DVD, but no mention in the press or Banas web site as to when it willl be restored. Just imagine the 3000 man hours it took to build the first time so who know the time this time around to straighten her

BTW, I hope Mrs Bana hasn't talked Eric's dad into getting rid of his Ford. The old mans face came alive when that car started up.

From what I read it just can't be fixed, it's dead, in his own words "I killed it".
If the floor pan, fire wall, chassis rail and turret are all out of shape then it's game over.
Sure they can replace bits and pieces but then it's not the SAME car, it's a Frankenstein.

So what, there are not many old cars out there that are all original anymore.

That just looks like a little scratch to me, some tlc and a few $$$ and its all good to go.

Eric stated that it was already a custom build in the movie, it's not the original car anymore. It was pretty much a rebuilt race car so I dont think he would mind it being a "Frankenstein"

I'd say he will rebuild it, it means too much to him to toss it. He has the money.....

Ahh yes that was a beauty.

What I don't get is, apparently it hadn't been driven for 10 years, yet it clearly had a registration sticker on it.

he probably paid the rego, i dont think he is short of a quid. id say it is beleivable that it hadn't been driven as the accelarator pump had perished. doenst normally happen on a car that is used. leaks like that are common with cars that sit for long periods of time.
just my 2 cents.
the movie/doco though was great i thought. i dont think they had to take the p##s out of the guy in tassie with the other coupe though.

I didn't take it that way at all.

In fact it added just how loyal and loving people are towards their cars no matter what condition.

I actually got to meet Eric Bana and I asked him what happened with his Dad's car. He has actually bought it and is taking care of it. As for his XB it is in storage and he is looking to restore it.

He has stated this at the Nova Cinema in Melbourne in front of many people....take out of that what you will. That is what I know though...

There was interview with him somewhere, can't remember where, Eric was saying he would rebuild, but wants to be hands on as much as possible. He said he is flat out with movies for the next 18 months or so and the car will have to wait until after that.

At leats he'll have plenty more money to do something great with it. :evil3:

Did anyone else have the 1977 Moffat 1-2 finish wallpaper in their bedrooms? The start of the movie where he describes how that finish molded his love for the coupes is exactly how it effected me.
Seeing the movie makes me want to get one all over again.

He definitely needs to fix it.

Before the movie they were saying this is going to be crap all abouts heaps of junks. When it was finish I had to hand them a tissue as they loved it.
