There are many interpretations of what an enjoyable driving experience is. For example, I like a country road with sweeping corners, good scenery, good company and a collection of 70/80s music
For others it may be The sound and feel of a classic V8 The sound and feel of a modern V8 European sports car on a tight road A convertible A Ricer with doof doof music, full blast Cruising around town with a car full for mates Driving alone on a country road with no distractions Driving a sleeper When its the weekend, what do you like to do as your favourite driving experience?

All of the above!
Just got to get enough cars to satisfy those requirements

For me its anything in my v8!, weather just crusing up the highway as it sips the juice, or going for a burn around some of tassies winding roads as it has bit of a drink, either way its great! :

Hitting the hills on the hayabusa works for me.
Or sitting in me engine bay just working away with the stereo going.

The sound and feel of a tasetfully modified car does it for me. The roar of the clevo or the drone of the EF. I love tight windy roads through mountains as well as wide open plains. Hard to break it into pieces but I love any kind of driving!

I just love sitting in the embrace of the super-comfy seat, no music on, just listening to the rumble from under the bonnet. I love the way she steadily flows through the corners, with no slop or wobble. I love the look of the front guards as they dip sleekly toward the road as if to say "C'mon, let's see what's up ahead!". The ride, the fact I don't need to drive fast to enjoy her, the turning heads. It's all part of the experience, and I wish I could drive her for hours every day. The only bit that makes me cross is the cost of fuel, but I'm willing to tolerate that for the sheer driving pleasure I get from my car. Even washing her down and finishing off with the chamois gives me a feeling of joy and happiness. Money? Hah, spend it, that's what it's for. I've gone without plenty of times and don't give a toss about how much I spend on her - she's been what I wanted since I was about 12 years old. As Ministry says: "It's a love affair".

What does it for me is being able to do the speed limit without being tail gated or slowed down to 40 for hours on end

As much as I curse my car for costing me a crap load of money, still love hitting full boost and blowing everything away. I don't even have to break the law to do it either which is a plus :

I like to give the XD Bucket loads on a track, move through the Toploader swing it into corners or even just drive with the family in it to the local shops just for a cruise.
Or the other, my daily, Nissan Patrol, go climbing hills with great views or playing in the mud or driving the family up the beach at Bribe Island for the day. You don't have to do a million mile per hour up the beach as it is such a peacefull cruise listening to the water and watching the fish, birds or even on the odd occasion Dolphins.

The more I drive the R6 ute, the more I know that Ford needs to keep six and eight cylinder vehicles.
There's just a personal connection there that's hard to describe, it has to be experienced. |

In the wagon with family just turning into a corner 2nd gear about 2500rpm weight has shifted to one side and then lightly applying the accelerator whilst exiting corner and winding out 2nd gear and straightening the steering wheel. That I6 effortless torque, its not tremendous but does it with ease. ahh...

what does it for me is knowing I am driving a car capable of tyre shredding on will or of ballistic move the world off its axis acceleration at the squeeze of my foot, the fact that Holden fans secretly are green with envy of my car - the way it is capable of leaving anything with a Holden badge on it in the mirrors.
and when I drive the XR5 I love the way it seemingly holds on around corners when even me as a driver think its going to end in tears the tyres squeal and feather the throttle and out of the bend it blasts with me wondering by what miracle I stayed on the black strip.

Hmmm, The sound of a Ford V8 under moderate throttle as it echo's through the mountains. Especially with the winding roads we have in the grampians. Other wise in the N13 pulsar its holding gear till the rev limiter cuts in, then changing. ;)

Washing the car Saturday night and detailing the interior, then taking her out on a warm, sunny Sunday morning for a run down the Great Ocean Road with my girlfriend, windows down and music going, dinner at Pt Campbell then head home. Then having to wash the car when we get back again to get the bugs and dirt off with my girl nagging about how long it takes me.
Now that's a good day. |
