I've got a few quick questions, I've looked everywhere but couldn't find an answer, what diff do these run? I've found a Borg Warner LSD center on ebay, asked the seller without a response as yet so thought I'd jump on here, It's a 2 pinion 25 spline center, is that right?? Also is ~$170 a decent price for it?

AU's run 28 spline axles, and the factory LSD's are 4 pinion.
Diff centers, open or LSD are borg warner units. Cheer

are the centres interchangeable between live axle centres and IRS centres..?

I believe they are.
The only problem that i know of when swapping diff bits, occurs is when you try to put different ratio gears into a 3.08 housing. It is physically smaller i think Cheers

That is true with the 3.08 housing, they are 75 series gears aka 7.5inch crownwheel with large 78 series pinion bearings, and a 78 series centre.
So you cant fit in 78 series 3.45's like i have found in mine, you have to put in 75 series gears and put the 78 series pinion bearings on it, and shim to suit. The pinion bearing is 150 thou too tight. |

It means you can not fit ford 3.45's into it, you have to put in commodore 3.45's and swap the bearings over to the larger ford bearing. At which your better off just finding a 3.45 lsd out of a XR6/XR8 etc.
My car currently has 3.45 commodore gears in it, with the bearing change done, but im still looking for a 3.45 factory diff cause i dont expect them to last long. |
