Useless "research" like this is common place all over the world wasting tax payer dollars...

On a kinda related note... The hypocracy of governments regarding big race events such as Indy, Formula One and V8 Super cars is amazing.
Laws were passed in order to make the events "legal" ie noise etc... and you cant actually complain about it.

The V8 street circuit in Townsville is a classic case.
Usually when building a bridge you much carry out an environental impact study in order to make sure that the bridge doesnt impact fish, flow, sediment, blah blah blah...
Suddenly this "red tape" wasnt required... The bridge built within one month without even the local council seeing the plans, despite it being council land.

Any noise from the event, weather its from the cars, or the concerts they hold at night are exempt from noise restrictions, so in effect you cant complain about it.

And everyone accepts this... but when its down to "hoons" trying to build a race circuit or hold an event, police, council tell us we must comply with this law, must put a drip tray under the car, cant have noise blah blah blah.... we all must conform.

Strange isnt it?

Wow. Governments sure know how to waste money. Thank you Captain Obvious for bringing it to my attention that racing is loud. The people that complain about this sort of thing drive me insane. Its like people who buy houses next to freeways and airports and complain about the noise. SURELY when inspecting what you were about to buy you would have seen the enormous construction over the road and found out what it was. I live behind a track and field and have heard neighbours complaining about the loudspeaker when races are on. Morons with nothing better to do with their time, much like the government that is doing "extensive tests" on crap like this.

Americans do throw money away, so this should really come as no surprise! I found it very funny however.

I've got a couple of new findings.

Water is wet, night time is dark and last but not least, wind is windy.

Noise is what has put tracks like Sandown at risk of being lost forever, developers keep building residential estates closer and closer to race track and then complain about noise! RIP Oran Park

LOL..its like at uni or other research institutes, they spend alot of time and effort finding out things that;

a) no one cares about
b) even if someone cared it doesn't help anyone

AIDS, famine etc are all over the place and we spend out time and money on issues such as the above..hmm

How do we even know what the study is about? Are we supposed to take his word for it when he's obviously biased? A link would be nice so we could read it for ourselves but then why should we come to our own conclusions about things when we have other people to do it for us.

And people that move next to an airport/racetrack then complain about the noise need to be slapped every day for a year.
