Not sure if this has been posted, but here it is from Bob himself.
I'm excited to announce that today we officially unveil the New Smart Design FG Falcon MkII which will go into production towards the end of the year. Not long after you read this, the industry will be provided with a press release containing all of the exciting new features and technologies that we've brought to bear in this, our most advanced Falcon ever. But before sharing with the media, I wanted to provide the Ford team with the first look at the key features we've introduced, as well as a sneak peak at some of the new styling cues that signal the next step in our Falcon journey. This Falcon is packed with more technologies and features than ever previously offered by Ford in this market sector. Smart technology such as the introduction of a new 8.0 inch colour touch screen which provides customers an advanced, yet user-friendly, interface to control all the main in-car functions such as audio, phone and satellite navigation systems. An enhanced safety offering with the inclusion of side curtain airbags as standard across all Falcon sedans, and side head/thorax airbags as standard on all Falcon Ute models. Premium features and design appointments which refine the quality of Falcon even further, including USB audio integration, projector headlamps, rear parking sensors, new alloy wheel designs and improved levels of comfort and quietness. An exterior design that makes the Falcon a more refined, composed and confident offering. With current kinetic design influences, all FG Falcon MkII models feature new tri-plane front end architecture with signature trapezoidal main grille. The new front fascia designs incorporate new bumpers, new slimline upper air intake with wing-form grille blades that cradle the Blue Oval badge, new lower trapezoidal main grille, new supplementary lower cooling slot and new grille finishes. To complete the package, in early 2012 we will introduce Ford's patented EcoBoost engine technology in Falcon. EcoBoost uses direct injection and turbocharging to deliver more power and performance from a lower displacement powerplant, yet with impressive fuel economy and CO2 emissions. |

Wow, seems like the changes are quite good! Can't wait for photos. I am glad that they have publicly made it known. Seems like I read a few things in there that I have seen people "complain" about, so this is going to be good news.
I really just want to see how the new front end is going to look! I'm not sure if all of the Falcon range is going to have the GPS? But this would be a super cool thing for me to have. Rear parking sensors too. USB audio integration is a big win for me as well. And of course, 8" colour touch screen = nice. Great stuff Ford Now the bad part, "in production towards the end of the year" - I think that is very subjective since we're already edging towards the end of the year, so we can't really tell if it is in a months time or 2-3 months! |

I like that they now have projectors, but I thought they would have done more with the headlight design around them.
They look like they've just been thrown in there. No better than what I could do. I like the new bumper though. |

Some of you need to stop smoking the wakky weed. They look absolutely terrible. That front end plastic is disgusting.
Thank god I didn't wait for this and picked up my MK1.

I think in person, it might actually look quite good. Lower it a bit and some tinted windows and I think this will have a bit of an aggressive look to it! |

I'm not sure about the look of the new G Series, but these are just CGI pics at the moment. I still can't wait to see a real photograph of it.

Those rims on the XR6 Turbo are a dead ringer for the high-end Holden sports rims.
Did the FGII pick up voice control a-la the SZ Territory?

XR comes with projectors too..
18 inch wheels standard on all XR's including utes. Utes come with sports bar standard now (urgh not sure if this was a great move).

Nothing mentions voice control yet.. Would have been good to get that as well.

The XR sedan looks like it is on 20's........? I love it, a great looking car and an interior that makes the commodore look very dated. I think Ford are onto a winner here.

I'm sold. They look much fresher than the BFII/FG face.

grill very similar to ve2 berlina grill, with the badge surrounded by the chrome wings.
screen looks a bit 'in your face' the way it sticks out compared to the current screen. overall, its a very recognisable car now. glad to see they've upped the airbag count to satisfy the small minded journo's. |
