Falcon/Territory/ute platform did quite well with 2710 sales compared to the Commodore and ute sales of 3052. Considering how old the Falcon is, the Commodore isn't exactly setting the world on fire.
I am worried about Fiesta and Mondeo sales though.

Good numbers for Falcon and Territory considering the plant would have closed a few days short of the full month (when did it shutdown?)
Fiesta and Ranger WTF is going on Ford...

Fiesta, Focus and Ranger simple answer. Ford's marketing is woeful at best. WZ fiesta has been out for 7 weeks albeit in Ambiente and Trend models. Ecosport now nearly a month and no ads. All that's been is a couple of billboards and electronic marketing. Make a car sound exciting and it will sell!!!!!.

With exception of Ranger 4x4, oneFord crashing and burning while the locally produced Fords hold the side up compared to December last year. 39.4% of volume from production which will close in 2016. Those new imports better be good!

I partially agree. I think the concept is great and I know a lot of non-car people find it funny but my biggest issue with it is that it doesn't actually explain what "Active city stop" is.
I think many would be impressed you have radar guided auto brakes in a humble Focus but to anyone Active City Stop could be ABS brakes, or EBD. All they needed was a few seconds of computer generated imaging... A great idea Ford, but they didn't follow through with it. *shakes head* |

Either way, the locals provided about 40% of Ford's market share last month. Just like the month before it. Now we find out that the new Mondeo, which is supposed to replace Falcon in part, won't be coming here until 2015. Like I said earlier, WTF Ford...

Wow, the only model that outsold the Falcon was the Ranger, and it wasn't by much.
I hope Ford pull their finger out by 2016..... |

I still believe when Ford quit manufacturing in OZ we will see a rapid decline in Ford sales. Once the belief from Ford OZ has waned and we become a 'research only hub' watch the people walk. People are still buying Ford Ute, Territory and Falcon. Have a look Ford OZ the numbers don't lie!!
So it beggars the question what will those people buy going forward. My tip is nothing Ford related as there is nothing that suits their purpose. People generally buy cars because they are fit for purpose. I buy Falcon ute because it is a great car, I can load heaps in the back, drives like a sedan(disc brakes all round for me in 2014 thanks), easy access being low to the ground, heaps of grunt, great fuel economy and on and on I can go. A Ranger is not fit for purpose for me as it's mere size is way to large to fit in my garage so misses out on that mere fact. So I guess Ford will soon see whether this exercise in economics works. My guess is there will be much more pain to come for them when they retire Falcon, Falcon Ute, GT, GS and Territory. These are all tremendous vehicles but simple lack of will sees them relegated to history. |

I and the 39% of people should just suck it up I guess. That's a lot of sales they will miss out on and I sure hope their business plan covers that instant loss of sales. |

Did Ford achieve 30,000 units local production for 2013 (Falcon pass/comm, Territory)? If not, what are the consequences re government grants?

Considering that supposedly lose money on the local cars then their profit margin will be better having sold less.... Sounds Irish.

I cant believe so many people are buying the i20, that has to be the biggest selling POS on the roads.
Hyundai have certainly done well with boosting the image of the brand, although in the US it appears it is just a honeymoon, as they arent getting repeat buyers.

Falcon: A model that is very old, has low levels of technology & apparently no-one wants somehow still managed to out sell the Focus & Fiesta!! And the Falcon has a much higher selling price point too.
Seriously Ford, I hope you know what you are doing!! |

I think ongoing serious problems with the dual clutch powershift automated transmissions in Focus and Fiesta is leading to word of mouth bad history stories. Sales on these two are down down down. And on the manual gearbox front with these two models for gods sale ford when are you going to make them available with a 6 speed manual. |

Ford probably doesn't care if the total sales drop after falcon, as the imports profit margins won't be propping up the losses for local cars so the bottom line will probably be better, even though they're selling less.
