Default Want advice on a car trailer brand

I want to buy a new car trailer, 16' x 6'6". I want roller rocker suspension and it needs to be strong enough to carry my 40s/50s cars, say 2.5 tonne max, tow vehicle is a GU patrol or F100. Every manufacturer claims theirs is best, does anyone have experience with this? I'd like to keep it to about 4 grand if possible.

Have you thought about buying a small tow truck.

You can get a tilt tray for around $12000.

Easier and quicker than a trailer.

I would be very careful these days. I have seen alot of trailers lately that the sellers claim that they are manuctured in Australia. Look behind the roller door and you will see they have been flat packed in from china.

Plus rego and insurance costs, far better off with a trailer. Unless you are shifting them that often you'd be better off with a small tow truck..?

I got one custom made recently for my XR8 race car. Engadine Trailers. Michael does custom work and I've had not issues with the trailer he made up for me. All with electric brakes and brakeaway. Was very reasonable with the price as well.

Not that often, maybe 20 times per year. Trailer will be fine, I rent them at the moment but that adds up and I always seem to end up fixing either wheel bearings or a winch on rental trailers, it's getting old.

I generally always have at least 2 cars under restoration at any time, trailer to exhaust shop, trailer to upholsterer, picking up parts cars etc, it adds up fast.

you mention 2.5ton, if the load is 2.5ton you NEED electric brakes on all axles and a brake away system to be legal in victoria

Very true and would certainly prefer elec brakes, asking the patrol to pull up nearly 6 ton total is a big ask.

Just in case you don't know, 4.5 tonne is the legal maximum you can be with a class C licence.
Above that you need a LR.

umm not correct in victoria, can legally tow up to a 9ton trailer on a car licence

from vicroads website
You can drive a vehicle that does not exceed 4.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and can seat up to 12 adults including the driver. This does not include motor cycles and motor trikes. You may tow a single trailer (other than a semi trailer) up to 9 tonne GVM or to the manufactures specifications (whichever is less).

Goodo.

You could try this crowd, the one on that page looks good, and maybe they can do one similar but a bit heavier duty for your application.

Very cheap if you can weld.

I would spend the extra and get a gal one, will last a lot longer and retain it's value.

These are reasonably priced as I was looking at these myself.

I tend to agree on the galvanising. That's a nice trailer but once again just too short for me, some of my cars are touching 16' long, the wheelbase will fit on but I'd rather not have the body hanging over the ends. I definitely want rocker suspension too. I'm starting to think I might need to up my budget a bit.

There are no dedicated trailer builders in Kyabram.
Few engineering businesses that can build to your specs.
There is a trailer retailer....same quality as most others in Victoria.
The other previously mentioned above in Kyabram is an off road retailer, never seen any car trailers there.

There is Tip and Go Trailers in Shepp as well - 0417 430 667, can't find an address, but if you FB it, I am sure there will be an address there, I have seen them, just can't think where
