Taking a bath on it is better than getting nothing for it. How many have even sold since release?

I just had a look on Trade Me in N.Z.
Ecoboost XT's for as low as $26,995 Kiwi probably with a fair bit of room to haggle from there so the Aussie price looks legit to me. Its crossing my mind to low ball one of the dealers here with $20,000 Kiwi, make a good office hack. |

20,000km is a fair few more than I thought a demonstrator would have

A Demo is a used car. Warranty and rego have already started. Only main difference is stamp duty is included in the sale price and they get treated as a "new" car by most Insurance companies (ie new for old if written off). This is what happened to my 2010 Demo SR5 Hilux, got written off at 15,000kM and 9 months after purchase. Got a brand new one delivered to my door with 12 months rego and full new car warranty.

No, no, no, can't be right. "Ecoboost is going to save the Falcon"
What a POS, can't even "give" em away.

Having unenlightened people who have never driven one bag the crap out of them doesn't help its cause.

Kiwi XT Ecoboosts range between 2013 and 2014, lots with only a few thousand km's.
Personally I think once a car is more than 12 months old or 5,000 km's its effectively a used car. It seems more than a little disingenuous to be calling a two year old car with 20,000 km's a demo. Are all the Aussie so called demo's like that ? |

If the E'boost XT in the City Ford ad is a 2012 with 20,000km, that is a used car, not a proper demo at all. I would assume that it is registered as well, with likely one year or so of factory warranty remaining. I seem to recall that if a dealer sells a car on their lot as a 'demo' and they make a certain sale quota, they get some additional factory deal or incentive or something like that. I believe it is a way of manipulating their sales figures for a given cycle. Can anybody confirm this ?

My neighbour purchased a crew cab 4X4, Had to wait for the shipment coming soon.
The car arrived and he was in a hurry to receive it so they dealer swaped to a different colour floor model that was in stock but not regoed. But they later contacted him to offer a deal to deliver the car on the first of the next month sold as a showroom display vehicle fitted with extras like canopy roof racks for free. They also gave him the company demo to use on his vacation. My dad waited 4 weeks for a triton to get a tray back and they discounted it to get sales volume up over a quota to allow them to choose dealer stock.

Wollongong ford tried to sell him a 1 year old mondeo with 30000 on it as a demo because it was a ford exec car. Just laughed and walked out |

i had my first drive in a demo ecoboost G6E the other day and I was pretty impressed with it actually. You wouldn't know it was a four banger if you weren't told prior.

WOW, that is exceptional value IMO. hard to pick bad points with the Ecoboost package for a daily driver.
only bad point would be is it is too large compared to other 4 bangers, when people are tyre kicking for a 4 banger buzz box, but is that a bad point? My son just purchased an ex rental Ecoboost Falcon, every person I talk to about it, never heard of a 4 cylinder Falcon, but that's the same old no marketing campaign argument from Ford. Should be a big seller in Qld. with the rego billing set up to how many cylinders a car has & priced right. |
