I got an email from Ford..The Countdown is on for the New Mondeo.
Specifications are impressive ?? I thought it was released early 2015 ?? if info is out now ? end of year ? doesn't make sense with FGX at same time ?? Unless FGX is the Mondeo !!

About time.
I never understood why Ford are taking so long to introduce it everywhere. They are everywhere in the US (Fusion), seriously, just about every 3rd car is a Fusion, NY cops run them too. Good looking car and should have been out here and everywhere else earlier this year. Fail Ford.

It's a complete mess from Ford, but they were originally planning to produce it at their Genk factory in Belgium. When it was decided to close Genk, production was shifted to Valencia, Spain. I think there were also delays because of quality testing - hopefully these issues have been sorted, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

From the email : The company that was the first to put seatbelts in passenger vehicles back in 1955 will now take them even further when the all-new Mondeo launches in February 2015. The all-new Mondeo will include many advances in vehicle technology but perhaps most important is the innovation designed to better protect rear passengers – inflatable seatbelts.
FUSION is built in Mexico....

It's a great car, I rented the Titanium 2.0 EcoBoost for a huge road trip from Idaho Falls, Vegas, LA, Oregon, Seattle, British Columbia, and back down to Idaho Falls. Averaged about 25 mpg (9.4L/100km). Definitely comfortable and powerful enough. Killer looks too. Would I buy one? No, but I wouldn't buy any car in that segment. It will definitely fit the needs and wants of many.

Fact is the Mondeo is a great car. I disagree with you on the looks, the new Mondeo/Fusion is a great looking car in the flesh.
We owned an MA Mondeo for 5 years and it was the best Ford we owned to data apart from the wifes new Kuga which we still have. I hope for Ford that the new Mondeo does sell very well in Australia.

The ones in post 19 and 20 are nice, very nice, the others are meh IMO. Those square lights on the fusion I think are not pretty.
I just hope there is one decent sporty model. The old ST24 was a nice car with a nice engine, the ST220 also had a nice V6.... Im a massive fan of the Audi A4, looks, performance, feel etc...but price hurts. I think the Mondeo could fill this, but I also agree its time for a name change. I think Fusion could work here.

From : Wikipedia : The Ford Mondeo is a large family car manufactured by the Ford Motor Company from 1992 onwards. The name comes from Latin mundus, meaning "world".[2] The Mondeo was designed to be a "world car"; the North American models were marketed as the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique until 2000, and as the Ford Fusion from 2013 onwards.

I'm not sure why people think the Mondeo name is mud here, it was only 2 years ago it was out selling Mazda 6 & was 2nd in class to only the Camry. The only thing holding this car back at the moment is the age of the current model.

I think the only people claiming the mondeo name is mud are staunch falcon supporters, that think the falcon iz the only quality product in the ford showroom.

Agree. The only issue the car has is low sales, I cannot see how the name is mud based on this because the car itself in the early days may have been bland however mechanically they have had nothing to worry about above and beyond it's competition. It's overdue for an update which has nothing to do with Ford Aust.

I hope they put a 'normal' wiper stalk in the car, even if it is still on the wrong side!
The current Mondeo is back-to-front in its operation of the wipers (up to turn on, down for a single wipe) and pulling the stalk toward you turns on the rear wiper instead of washing the screen. Why? |
