This should be in the pub section.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

This on the XR Falcon:

This is the car that started a blood war between two of Australia’s most iconic car makers. Upon its arrival on Aussie shores
Arrival on Aussie shores? I know its design was US based, was still made here.

Iconic, Australian cars?

Datsun 200B, BMW 6, RX7, Nissan GTR - wtf , the writer Mike Huynh seems to have his head up his backside.

Don't worry, I'm sure they felt guilty about their biased choices when they came up with the title for the article. They changed it from "the 10 most". ....to "10 of the most" so they could keep their picks

What a load of ****. Promoting at least 3 fully imported cars as being Aussie icons, on AUSTRALIA day? Morons....

Like noted above, the GTHO should have been # 1 on the list (yes, I am a Holden diehard, but Ford have some very worthy vehicles).

I do agree with the R series on there, and the V8 introduction in the XR - they give them enough of an iconic status to make it into the top 10, but too many true icons were simply ignored, and imports have no place in an article published on 26/1.

Hell the Aussie VL turbo is more of an icon (especially in Melbourne) than the imported GTR Skyline.....

Hang on, I found the "problem" :
This story was originally published on D'Marge.
D'Marge is one of Australia's most popular men's style and fashion blogs.

A "fashion" blogger trying to comment on cars......probably wrote it while he was having a mankini wax job........

....and we thought JD was bad....

How is Moffats RX7 any way really iconic anyway? There would be 50 ATCC cars you would pick before that.

And the 200B, WTF.

Shocked this wasn't done by Drive.

The Valiant Charger definitely deserves a mention on that list. Amateur journalism.

To be fair it says 10 of Australias most iconic cars, not Australias 10 most iconic cars. Either way 200B WTF??? It was a 180 with 20 more mistakes. The 180 deserved to be there more than 200.

Whether people like it or not the TM Magna shook the local scene up quite a bit and deserves to be on there.

Interesting list that's for sure.

For mine and in Chronological order

1 Surely the 48-215 would be the first iconic car in Australia's history, Australia's first Holden.
2 Next would be the XRGT for bringing Australia a locally built V8 sedan.
3 I'd put the HK Monaro next, for obvious reasons.
4 Without a doubt the next Iconic and easily the most Iconic is the XY GTHO, fastest 4 door sedan in the world.
5 HQ next, best selling locally made car in history.
6 VL Calais/Turbo/Walkinshaw, Cult Hero who also took on the might of the internationals and won.
7 Nissan Skyline GTR, changed the face of motor racing in this Country. Thanks Jim, I am an ********.
8 VT2 5.7l, upped the ante for locally produced performance.
9 BA XR6T, bang for your buck performance.
10 FGX XR8/VF GTS the end of an era.

TM Magna was the first 'widebody' Japanese car ever made, they actually had to get special permission from Japan's government for it to be even built.
Prior to the Magna Japanese cars were restricted to max width of 1.7m
It also crapped on the local stuff for refinement, and it came with a 5 speed manual standard, when the XF at the time came standard with a 3 speed manual.

But reliability wasnt its strong point thats for sure.

So yeah, maybe an iconic Japanese car then. The magna has only ever been seen as a mediocre sedan most of its life. Even when it won Coty of which ever title it was.

And the camira. Just because lots had or knew about them, doesn't make it iconic.
It's gotta be on the top of so may lists to make ICONIC status. Like the GTHO or the valiant charger even. Datsun????

eh holden S4, the first holden to have a turn of speed (1/4 in 19 seconds).

or how about the fairmont or fairlane ?

or how about the vg valiant in 2 door or 4 door with the option sporty pack and 3 on the floor !
valiant AP5/6 with the push button auto .....

ford landau
valiant vip
holden brougham

xd falcon with electronic speedo and plastic fuel tank

The Australian Austin Kimberley and Austin Tasman (Morris badged in New Zealand) "X6" models of 1970 were a range of Leyland Australian designed front-wheel-drive sedans based on the Austin 1800 (ADO17) platform. At the time of the X6 being launched onto the Australian market it was quite an advanced design in comparison to the other competitors from Ford, Holden and Chrysler, whose rear-wheel drive,

no disrespect, theres probably not enough space to fairly list all the iconic models, and these i listed are probably a bit down the iconic list in most peoples minds, but i think these are also iconic cars and more deserving than the magna.
but we will agree to disagree ;).

Um, the BA XR6 Turbo was a game changer and i'd have put a WRX in that list as well, a very popular car for at least a decade.
