Just a quick question I’ve been searching and still not sure about the engine number location on a Kent 1600 in a 1972 XL Capri, I was about to do an engine swap cause I thought my Engine didn’t have a number so it wouldn’t matter since it was a non matching car, But now I have located the matching number on the front of the block just under the head, is this normal I was under the impression it should be on the side above oil sensor. Thanks in advance Bruce

Hi All,
I am looking for my engine number. I have a 67 Cortina 440 that is running a 1600 Kent X flow 711 engine. Earlier engines had the number near the dizzy, badly stamped into the cast block very hard to read. I see that the later 711 engines have engine number in diff location.. Any chance someone could post a pic of the EXACT place to look for my engine number please? TIA |

Hopefully this picture attaches properly. This is the location for all 1600 Kent Ford engines pretty much. Unfortunately, if the mating surface ever gets skimmed for a rebuild the numbers can be skimmed off as well.

Thanks mate. I had my suspicions it was supposed to be there.
My engine was recently rebuilt and obviously skimmed. Thanks again
