Default How about one of these engines for the next falcon

Okay, its an inline 6 cylinder, its DOHC, 4 valve per cylinder, 96mm bore, 92mm stroke (okay so the Falcon is 92bore and 99 stroke), 7000rpm making nearly 400bhp and 450Nm at 5500rpm. Its naturally aspirated and it hammers.

What car does it go in?

A hand built, 1050kg, 5 speed manual, RWD 2 door, 2 seater sports car called the TVR Sagaris. They are right hand drive and are made in the UK...

0-60mph, 3.9seconds
0-100mph, 8.3seconds
Top speed of 300km/h

Drool worthy

Lets hope Ford are looking at this too.

The straight six really is a great way to go.

Imagine the BA DOHC VCT engine with a better bore stroke ratio and with the bigger bore better heads and valves. With the lower piston speeds higher rev limit and maybe a new lower deck height all alloy block to save some weight.

You could make it in three to four litre capacity and turbo it for any output you care to have in a street car.

It would have far less torque and would take a lot longer to spool..

And be a ***** to take off from the lights with. Ever driven a TVR? A bitch just off idle.

Great fun once you pick up the revs though

Also remember this car weighs just over a tonne. The falcon would have to go on a diet for it to work. Plus the cost id imagine would be so expensive that i doubt anyone would buy a falcon for that price when they could buy an exotic.

Why bother when crowds like Nizpro are achieving 270kw from our current 4L at just 6200rpm.
Using just cams, headers/exhaust, inlet manifold, and edit.

Rick.

I recently bought a TVR spec 4.0 V8 for my TR7, should be good for around 350hp, it will weigh in at just over 1000kg and engine builders say it will be in the 12's no worries. The bloke I got it off payed $9500 for it! I payed less, still brand new never started. Cant wait to fire her up!! Oh, and looking at power to weight of other cars, should be well into the 4's to 100 if I can get grip.

Screw that.

Give me the Speed12's V12 engine, supposed to be a V design based on TVR's famous 6clinder engines.

Apparently the owner of the company owns hte only road-legal one and even he said that its just waaaaaaay too powerful for a road car.

Broke both of TVR's engine dynos during testing!

our I6 is not that bad, it would be better if ford gave it some love and threw some more money at it.

The present 4.0L is quite a little acheiver. To be perfectly honest, Ford surprised me with how far they took it with the BA update.

It suits the application very well - low down tourque. I'm sure Ford have a few tricks up their sleeve, and can and will improve it further as the years roll on. Hopfully in the order of fuel consumption, NVH, and weight (read alloy block).

Its already more of a match to the Alloytech, but be rest assured, then VE arrives, they'll have many of its shortcommings well and truly sorted.
