just a quick question i have a long driveway kind of downhill the car has to get towed. I was told that you can't tow a car in 1 or 2 but the car said to put the car in n (auto) and it should way if the get the 4x4 to have it in low gear. My question is won't it stuff up my gearbox.
any help matt |

y would the car to be towed need to be in gear??
put in neutral and do watever u like with it

Yeah tow it in neutral, but how far are intending to tow it, and at what speed.

You shouldn't tow auto's.
It you do, you will need a tray truck or trailer or a normal hitch truck wiich needs to lift the rear. If you have to use a tow roap then you should disconnect the drive shaft.

Wise words there mate! Dissconect the tail shaft.
issue is that with the engine off the trans pump is not opperating and by turning the tailshaft the internals are moving (output shaft etc) but there is no fluid being pumped arround the trans.

Walkinshaw sumed it up perfectly.
Short distance is ok but drop the tailshaft if travelling a fair way. Perhaps you could organise a "low tow"? |
