I dont Thrash it Much, Only when i get stuff done to it i take it out for a test run, But in my area every tom dick and harry wanna run you, i cant let down the fords but not running a holden, I can get supra gear boxs for $450, and a bellhousing kit for $395, i found a few places that make them, Only problem now is to work out which supra gear box is strongest and which has a electronic speedo. The ford T5 manual only hadles 330ft/lb torque. Thats nothing i have 3 times that amount of torque @ the rear wheels. Are the Supra Boxs Stronger then the ford T5

http://pforums.company-hosting.com/f...ight=supra+box Check these links out. There are different kinds of supra boxes and only one of them is very strong.

Might be worth ringing up PPG and finding out what a straight cut/dog gearset for a toploader will cost you. CRS make a suitable bellhousing.
http://www.ppgearbox.com.au Thats probably going to get you the best result short of a purpose made race manual. Otherwise, its time for an auto! - John |

Yeh youll find those Supra boxes youre being offered are the non-turbo models. I think theyre called W58. Although they are way better than a T5 there will still be the possibilty of breakage especially if you get some good traction in there.
You want either the R154 which was used in the old Supras and manual Soarers. Or if you can somehow find a Getrag 6spd box out of a late-model supra then by all means stick that in. Handle 600kw no probs. Bear in mind the cheapest ive seen one is 6grand. |

He said at the wheels, not at the engine (toque is multiplied through the gear ratios). Depending on what gear that is run in, it is still to close to the limits of the box.
