john after seeing articles on ea falcons dating 1988 i seen 1/4 time of almost flat 15.5 with a stok ea falcon s, t5, with 2:92 lsd so why wouldnt xr's run bit better than this stok considering better motor, and especially diff
was it gearbox and weight differences?

yes, the fastest recorded time for a stock EA S pack 5 speed 3.9MPFI was 15.5.
considering the EA had a shorter 1st gear and was lighter then the ED it somewhat overcomes the shorter diff and more powerful engine. you'd expect very similar times for the ED XR considering the EA S was *the* performance variant.

stuff putting in an XR cam... get a regrind cam.... if your putting in a cam, you may as well put in something a little better...
I have a daily performance regrind cam from surecam in brisbane... my car is running 14.7, and 203.2 rwhp... i also have extractors, CAI, chip and its a manual though...

correct, wade told us all the eseries cams were the same (except those hybrid ones ofcourse) if they were different it'd pick them up when regrinding cams.
ford only state 4 degrees more duration, but still... get a regrind anyway :P

Im the guy who gave 94EDGhia the XR6 cam - when I went to wade today to pick up my 1636 they told me that there is like 2 degress difference and that the power the XR6s get is not from the cam. However it was still worth doing as there is a slight difference however NOTICABLE difference with the performance and gurgling exhaust note of 94EDGhia's car. Also he can now claim his car has a XR6 cam.

yeah thats right neb he's car is really heavy on petrol now isnt it i no he's driving doesnt help but still i cant afford not gettin atleast 550k out of a tank will the 1004 114 give me any good power results while still giving me fairly good fuel consumption.

well he only really drives around here its all suburb driving and short trips so thats pretty bad for economy to start with. i don't really know what economy he gets but i don't think it's much worse than what he got stock. i know when i had both of those cams in i probably at the very most got 50km less a tank then i did when it was stock.
with the xr engine i have now, fuel economy actually improved after i put the dev5 cam in. with the stock xr cam i was getting 400ish. now i get anywhere between 400-500 depending on driving. usually around the 450ish mark. 550kms from a tank is really good economy, if you want power but keep your economy i'd reccomend maybe a dev3hl cam, or maybe just leave it alone :P |

the reason im getting a cam now is because in five weaks im getting a straight multipoint gas research system so i want it in my car a ran in nicely before they tune the GRS to my car. I was getting 700k's a full tank but i was getting gready so i thought gas would be an investment

ummm you're getting 700kms to a full tank... why even bother changing to gas when you're getting such good economy on petrol...

mainly because it should have better economy on gas in regards to a car on gas (as it is on fuel). I was always thinking about getting some kind of LPG system in the future but I thought the sooner I get it the more i'll be saving. Also demand for LPG systems are increasing so prices will only go up for the instaltion of an LPG system. Its already an 8 - 10 week wait for most places (I think I only have a 5 week wait left)

just look at the petrol station billboards...lol my car for instance used to drink more fuel than gas /100k's still does, but it runs gas most of the time in your case, with timing done, and a good tune on a dyno, you will have performance, economy, and good time.
