i have been told that i can get a solinoid fitted to my air lines in my auto which is compared to a stage 2 shift kit. has anyone else have this in there car and if so what sort of shift do you get. i dont want it to be too rough as my car is more of a cruser than a speed machine.

You cant get an old stuffed solenoid out of a borg warner 3 speed auto and put that in your 4 speed an that will make it shift hard.. chirp second.

HSVETR - There are two ways.
The easier of the two is the electronic shift kit. It can be switched on and off. It's quicker to do. Other wise you can swap your s5 soliniod with one out of a Commodore, this wil firm shift. BTW, where ya located?

Im in Mildura.
The electronic shift kit- does it just increase the air pressure?

Another alternative is to fit an AU variable pressure solenoid (S5) which can be adjusted.

All S5 solenoids can be adjusted, thats how they work, it's just that the AU S5 was the first used that way i.e. adaptive shift, but at the end of the day, the AU S5 is cheaper when replacing your S5.

However the end result is basically the same as an electronic shift kit - increased line pressure within the transmission. PM me if you would like to know where to find instructions on building the electronic shift kits (I dont want to be plugging other forums here on AFF, lol). It shouldnt cost you more than $10 to build and to be honest they're quite fun to make/install.

The electronic shift kit is better anyways, as it can be turned off, if you manually adjust the AU S5 for harsh, then harsh it is 24/7.

Also when you have family in the car they may prefer softer driving!
