Default Question for all mechanics

I am having a problem with my neighbour. He works on cars till early hours of the morning, fills the street up with cars and is making it impossible for us to move. I am just curious, do you need a lisence to have your own garage or not. If so is there a commision that deals with these matters which i can approach to get this guy to stop. Everyone has enough of seeing s*@t boxes driving like crazy up and down the street.

Thanks
Bill

I think he is entitled to work on cars, but must not cause noise after ceratin hours or before certain hours.

He probably has to keep the place clean and safe.

If he is earning money from his back yarders, he must declare it as wages.

Different councils have different rules for this sort of stuff

If he's doing backyarders the ATO will want to know about it. You can't legally work on a car in the street. Otherwise, there's nothing to say you can't work on cars at home. Of course there are noise restrictions and what not.

At best guess it would have to be local council that you should contact and ask best options etc, and also maybe a call to the police whilst he has cars there or is working on them late at night (or early in the morning).

But, have you (or any other neighbours) spoken to this person to state the noise is irritating etc. Maybe that is the first option......

By the way, I forgot to add one of the neighbours went to the council, and said they didnt give a rats *** about what was happening. Cops from what I understand are investigating him. We have talked to him. We tolled him we don't like how his dog s*@ts in our backyard and asked him to clean it and doesn't do it. You ask him to move the cars and doesn't care.

I can't wait for the night for someone to come around the corner like a nutcase, (as it happens often) and takes out a couple of his cars. His dog is going to get run over also because its always running around in the middle of the street.

Were going to contact the previous owners to see if they can do anyhting. We knew them for 20 years. When the wife passed away, the husband had two strokes and now is in a nursing home. We went from the best neighbour you could possibly ask for, to a bunch of pigs.

Bill.

Well you do have a painful situation... Is he renting or has it bought the place?
If this person is renting you can force the council into taking action by all neighbours concerned signing a petition (this can get nasty though) and reminding them of how many there are of you for next election time!!!

About the dog though, ring the pound... it would be horrible for an innocent dog to be killed or injured through a lazy pig of an owner, its not the dogs fault he hasnt been trained properly or isnt kept in his own yard.

I am sort of gathering you may be in a smallish area, if so, there would have to be a local member of parliament that 'might' be more interested in the situation than local council....

Report him to the ATO, say he is doing cash jobs and that he might be breaching the system. If he is being a pr!ck, then stuff him up.

You cant run a business like that from a residential property, it has to be in a correctly zoned area. Report it to the council in a formal letter, and/or bring it up at a council meeting.

gee's mate i wish i had your council,
here in Hervey Bay QLD the council wont let me even work on one car as the old ***** next door rings them and the police everytime i try and do more than an hours work on my car,the laws in QLD say anyone can paint there car in the driveway (not one a week)as long as its your own,but one complaint from neighbour like the A&SE H&le
i have next door and the council are all over you like a rash.which means im the only person in my street who cant use a hammer ,spraygun or spanner ,yet i only had one argument with him last year when i sprayed some undercoat on repair so after that i would wait for him to go out before doing any work as he siad the fumes ruined his peace and tranqulity which council backed him 100% on as they started coming here at least once a week for not mowing lawn causing rats to infest next door(grass has never been over 5inches high)then too many cars on property so i must be running a workshop(4 cars)one of which is my daughters car,as it sounds like you have someone who is actually doing bad things ,do what my neigbour has done and ring council and exagerate (you wont need to) as he is real bad by the sounds of it
Oh yeah i forgot the worst ones
Fair Trading god they are the worst ,will hassle him like mad.

Mate, I normally wouldn't because it's pretty low to dob someone in without trying to talk it through first, but this guy seems like a lost cause. Get MVRIC, the ATO and the EPA onto his ****. I'll bet a month's wages this guy isn't getting rid of used oils and such in the correct manor. The EPA love that.

The collecyion of burnout marks had stopped. Then him and his mates came along and started it up again. Its so annoying hearing them ripping burnouts at 2am. I don't see them, but I know its them because i can here the cars l;eaving from his garage. I've had a fight with his partner because i was supposably too close to their driveway when there was more than enough room. Then there friend one day parked right in the centre of my driveway path it was all good. C*@p like this and packets of cigarettes and bear bottles thrown in my front lawn, and dog s*@t all over my property is a just reason when they have been kindfully asked not do stuff like that. I have never said anything to them about the cars. They are inconsiderate pigs who deserve to cop it hard for the way they treat others. Might teach them respect others space and property.
