Default Thanks to Westmead hospital cardiac section and forum members.

I just had to post here because as the word is out..yes I suffered a heart attack on the 10/1/06 and spent several days on oxygen drip and the likes. I would like to thank Westmead hospital emergency unit and the lady doctor in Westmead who kept me there until we esatbalished what was going on that night....she was a champion lady..

I would equally like to thank the coronary care section which looked after me in an amazing way.The nursing staff there deserve a payrise and the doctors performed miracle surgey and did save my life.

I have to mention thanks to forum members which have contacted me with their well wishes especially Ben Bluehoon who I called today.

I am taking it easy at the moment for a few weeks and have sworn to never put junk food in my mouth ever again. A future at the wing chun club may be over but the fitness will become a bigger part of my life with my second chance.

While laying in hospital in my mmind was my mrs kids dog ,house,au wagon and this forum which has become a hobby place for me...thanks all...

I went to emergency that night and there was a huge line...one guy was sneezing ,one had a little bruise etc etc... I went to the empty line where the secretaries were leaning on the counter and said to them ":i cant stand up ,so ill sit in a chair over there while I have a heart attack..." They coundnt get out to help me quick enough they were terrific.

As has been said, Get Well Soon Mate. Also, have you had a CT on your Heart? If not GET ONE. You need to look for Calcification, which is a major cause of Heart Attacks. Also, keeping off the Junk Food helps.

Stav you are very lucky indeed ... glad to hear you are still with is and you were able to make it to hospital to get treated as well.

I can vouch for the tireless effort the doctors and nurses put in at the hospitals ... without them putting in there best effort ... we'd all be screwed in our time of need.

Hope your recovery is speedy ... it'll change your life in so many ways ... you realise how important life really is.

The only person who can answer this is useless...but just by way of info...it can range from feeling like you've got indigestion to the most severe painfull hot knife stabbing pain down your left arm and chest.

Yes mate.No probs.
Well the first thing that had me worried was that a few weeks ago I had breathlessness when doing the lawns.A little break and id keep going. I ended up doing some fencing work in the yard and the same thing a bit breathless.I thought I was a bit down on fitness. The final straw was when I was wathching a movie with my kids and my chest felt like it was being squashed..but painfull and couldnt catch my breath. Then I lay down it passed for a few seconds..so I got up and it got really bad.The pain was intense in my chest ,shooting into my elbows and wrists..my arms felt like the blood had literally got cut off.I knew this was time to get to hospital.

I do kung fu,i do not smoke,i drink 1 drink a week but junk food has been a weakness.Despite a high cholesterol reading my doctors believe it comes down to family history. Also runniong my own business makes me do everything myself which may have contributed to stress at the time ..

My age is 37 yo

useless good to hear you have lived to tell the tale. I actually install and maintain cardiac cath labs (the x ray macine they use for angiography) and the number of people who are patients for the 3rd or 4th time astound me. So it sounds like you are on the right track, you know what your weakness's are and are taking steps to address them...well done.

Some folk just keep puffing away and eating the same cr@p.

Puts things in a better perspective when a cardiologist looks at you and says "you really should loose a bit of weight".
