Default Reactions to previous model launches...

I was just thinking today, the only model launches I have really taken notice of have been the BA and BF and was wondering what the reactions were to previous models of falcon.

BA it was like WOW, agressive front end, new donks, quadcam v8's turbo's irs standard etc etc
BAII- kind of a let down but if you liked auto headlights and new wheel designs i guess you had something to live for,
BF a bit of an injection of life, the F6 and GT look great

Apart from that I cant remember anything else about previous falcon launches. I wasn't really into cars then so I guess I just didnt take notice. So yeah it'd be great if those people who were part of it could give us some insight!

cheers

I remember being at my Uncle's dealership a week before the EF came out.

Geez there was big hype around for the best thing Ford had done for a long time etc (We had pictures of it there)...

Being younger I don't remember alot about it, but I just remember that they really thought it was ИИИИ hot.

It will all come down to the point when they caught your attention

For Me it was the Blackwood Project,(XD Falcon) followed it through every mag, tried to get info from every source I could think of, (incl Ford Aust), My dad got one as a company car and I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread (every thing is relative he had a HZ before that)

Preview pics, drawings still remember it vividly, But to drive a XD today (i do work in and around car yards and see these things traded) does not fill me with the same joys.

Next launches that I remember were the EA and the Mighty Capri, Had to hire one just to get a drive, could not afford it for many years but the excitement that the capri created has stayed with me, to the point that i forgive its shortcomings, call them character and still own one today. (SA Turbo manual)

The only thing I remember about the previous models was a ford Ad they played in NZ that has this old truck out of control on a mountan road, a guy in an ef sedan was chasing him then got in front and let the truck rest on his bumper and stopped it. It was a strange ad to think about it now because I'm not sure if they were trying to promote the handling or brakes or what the point of it was.

"We've got your new car on ice"...the XD teaser in response to Holden getting the Commodore out about 6 months earlier. A guy around the corner had a emerald green XD Fairmont soon after.

Remember the Wheels magazine featuring the fold-out back cover with the red VB SL/E unfolding to reveal its equally red interior.

VK Commodore - Holden discovered equipment levels as a marketing concept, along with the plastic bumpers and Calais side panels.

I remember watching the first time they rolled the AU XR's out onto the track for its first shot at V8 glory. Those cars looked awesome and the quad lights really made the commodores look basic. Unfortunately they didnt go as well as they looked but they still got my vote.

XF, man that thing looked like a spaceship (I was only 7) Every release since then I've ducked down to my local dealer to get a sneak peek when they roll off the truck! When I saw the front cover of Motor Mag and it had the BA XR's behind a "half raised" roller door, I just about did a back flip in the newsagency! Biggest shape breakthrough in a looooong time!

Only ones I remember are the AU and bugeye WRX. Both of which I thought were ugly as sin.
