Default 5spd ea into el

as the tile sugests, does the 5 speed from an EA fit into an EL? An oppurtunity has arsien where i can get the whole car for dirt cheap, so i would be able to steal pretty much everything from this car, except the computer.

So would it bolt straight up? I know one of you guys has recently done a conversion, so i'd love to hear from you!

Cheers
Matt

ecu is kinda useless but, and you have to make modifications to your existing wiring loom, pedal box has a differnt brake switch, just make connectors for it and use that

I *think* Walkinshaw put a EA T5 in his EL Fairmont.

It will go in no problem, but the Flywheel and clutch are different EA / EB-EL.

The clutch is smaller in an EA and has a 3 bolt presure plate as apposed to EB2 onwards which have a 6 bolt clutch, you can still use the EA clutch and flywheels though. Also the EA pedal box needs to be modified slightly, there are heaps of posts on this so do a search.

Remember too that you will have no synchro for reverse. Before you put in reverse, just slide the stick into 5th and then back into reverse otherwise you will look like a noob when you grind the gears all the time.
