Default How 4.0L I6 beats 5.0L 8

Just letting you know that on the weekend i saw stocko 5.0L V8 commonwhores and 5.0L E-series all getting around 115RWKW on the dyno so if any esieries I6 owners wan't to go faster than the 5.0L 8's there is your target which can be easily obtained by fitting extractors and a 2.5 inch system and CAI.

*note* Obviously there are people out there that know this already, this is for those that don't know so no smart @sses please.

Please read the part that is highlighted in bold, funnily enough this was posted in my original post. Also having a manual i6 with a few mods does give you benifits over an auto 5.0L 8 obviously.

Dunno how that works, cos I got 150rwkw with a cat back exhaust and slightly bigger MAF body in my 5.0. You can't tell me that I got 35rwkw from the exhaust and bigger MAF body..

Is this the same car that ran a best 1/4 mile of 15.5?

I can see the reason behind the post (ie, setting a benchmark for sixes to attain for getting ahead of a stock eight on the dyno), but I'll stick with my wheezer Even modded, she probably only does a bit over 115rwkw (or ~140rwmw)

Jeez I had no idea that 5 litres pulled such low kw's.

I put my 3.9 on the dyno last saturday and it pulled 143rwkw and it still has a stock cam and computer!

my brother has a EBII 5 Litre, 4 speed auto, with genie extractors, and twin 2 1/2 inch exhaust into 1 straight through muffler and only pulled 117rwkw.

Don't forget that power to weight plays part as well. I have an EP82 Starlet Turbo 1.3L with a weight of 830kg. It will leave a stock 5.0L behind easily.

Dont compare one dyno to another. If you want to compare 2 cars, do it on the same day on the same dyno. RWKW is not the be all and end all, its just a peak power reading. Average power over the usable rev range will tell you which car will be quicker. At the end of the day the drag strip is the best way to tell which car is the quickest. it:

I agree.Using dyno figures to compare different cars is a waste of time if they are done on different dynos, and, at different times.
I also agree torque is more important to get these heavy rigs moving.
Just for thought.. a guy at work used to tell me every day how his EL XR6 auto was quicker than my EB XR8 auto. So we finally lined them up and I pulled past him, we backed off at 150 by which stage I was well and truly beating him easily. I should note both cars stock except mine had a 2.5 inch sports exhaust. ( standard headers , cats)
I dont reckon the exhaust gave me the difference that I had on him.
p.s. the 6's only got better times because they had shorter diff ratios ,but , it is what it is.
IMO stick with the bent 8. Even if a six beats you, you still have that sweet engine throb to make u feel better
