Default World Cup

Well it has started.

The 2 games already held were quite entertaining to watch, with lots of goals and entertaining styles of play.
Germany 4 - Costa Rica 2
Ecuador 2 - Poland 0

Tonight its England turn. Im not an England fan, so I hope its an entertaining game.

With the way the ball is, im expecting Beckham and Gerrard to have a go at long range and from free kicks. Could be a high scoring match.

I hope England lose tonight.

Two cracking goals last night by the Germans. The Polish were very disappointing in the second game.

England don't look too impressive IMO. We'll see if they improve, I hope not. England losing in anything makes me a happy boy. :thebirds:

Astounding game last night. Oz played so well for the entire game - their fitness was so evident to play consistently right to the end. And what a result!! The heart rate went through the roof and I couldn't stop squealing! A worthy team to be on centre stage.

Looking forward to Brazil v Croatia tomorrow morning.

GO OZ!!

what a display by Yorke... I tip my hat to Anthony Lapadia (sp*) for bringing a world class player to the Gay-League

yer ripper game the Trinidad-Sweden game, Tinidad with ten men in their first world cup hold out Sweden ! Fantastic effort and yes Racecraft Dwight Yorke is all class....
England game was impressive how much Paraguay left the door open many times the first 30mins of the game I couldn't believe the Poms couldn't finish them off then, some nice controlled play by them but they got to be unhappy not putting more in the net !

Best game of the tournament to date. So many people criticise soccer for too many 0 - 0 results. Yet some of the best games I have seen finished scoreless. It is not the result but the quality of the game which counts (unless you are a supporter of the teams playing). Sweden versus Trinidad & Tobago was a game played in the right frame of mind where both teams played attacking soccer for the full 90 minutes. The fact that neither team scored wasn't a big concern for the neutral supporters.

As for the England game, it was England's reputation and not England which beat Paraguay. The Paraguayan team were shell shocked for the first 15 minutes of the game. Once they regrouped they gave as good as they got. I wasn't impressed by England's performance last night.

I was very disappointed with England after the performance they gave in the first 20 minutes. One thing I have noticed, unlike Brazil and Argentina and the like, they lack a killer instinct, to really finish off teams when they have the upper-team. If they need to win, they'll win by 1, if they need a draw, they'll get the draw, which is all well and good until you come up against teams such as Brazil, where one goal means nothing.

Um.... NO ! It is impossible to lose if the opposition don't score against you !

And they were not lucky to get that goal, it was a result of pressure & a great free kick.
