Ok I probally have a GHIA motor coming my way...EFI 4.0
Can anyone tell how hard the conversion is... I.E do I need anything else what about electrics...IS it fairly simple(as far as engines go) or really complicated... If anyone could give me the basic guide lines that would be great... Will EF door trims fit in the EA???? How much would you pay for 2nd hand clear indicators??? How much are the new gold/on/black number plates(I want 6CYL-EA)??? Cheers JAMES |

anywhere upto 3000 .
the 4 and 3.9' are basicly the same engine just a bigger bore from memory and a bit of a difference in the head design. i have noticed a big gain in power from the change over.

The only ghia's that had a tickford motor was the EFII onwards. BEfore that Ghia had same motor/running gear as fairmont, and same motor as GLi
Recon motor costs what you are willing to spend. Bare minimum rings and bearings without any honing would be waste of time, but could be done for around $1k at a guess? Full rebuild, $3k+ depending on what you get done?

yeah price really depends on what you want out of it,,a stock reco motor is around the 3k mark now cause of the extras that need to be done.
no point in doing less than full rebuild or exchange.

Im pretty sure EF door trims will fit, but youl need to modify the steel arms that go to the inside handle.
I wouldnt pay more than $20 for second hand clear indicators, you can get new ones on ebay for $30. Good luck with the motor, 2 cartons is tempting, but I dont live anywhere neer you :
