Unhappy KC Laser (Hard to Start)

I have a 1.6 litre KC laser. The starter motor seems a bit tired; it has trouble cranking the engine over. I have installed a new battery which was fully charged but still cranks over slowly. Does any-one know what the problem might be.

Sounds like the starter is poling out, usually caused by very worn bearings.
Does it wind over slowly to start with, then pick up a bit? If so, then it'll be poling.
