Default Upgrade of Sound System

Ok this is what I have at the moment.

Pioneer mp3 Headunit
2 x Kicker 6" Splits (Rear)
2 x Kicker 4" Splits (front)
1 x Kicker 15" Sub in Kicker Box
1 x Audioline 800W 4 chanel Amp (running Speaker)
1 x Audioline 600W 2 chanel Amp (running Sub)

I was thinking of upgrading the system to have 2 x 12" Subs

My questions are....

Is it worth it?
Will my 600W amp be adequate for this?
What brands are good for the stuff i need to buy?

The headunit has only 1 x RCA out and i have split this to 3 to run the amps.
Am I better of getting a better headunit?

What's wrong with the setup you've got now? It sounds like it's a big system anyway!

There just appears to be too much of a base rumble and not really doof doof.
I was told that going to 12" would be better. Not an expert on the subject so im open to ideas..

i'd say get the 2 12" subs as they will be quicker and puncher than the 15". 15"'s are normally good for just bass but not speed. thats where 12"'s are a good medium! you'll notice with the 12"'s that they will match the music beats better than the 15".

i dont really know that much about this stuff. you said it was a 2 channel so my guess would be no, it wouldnt be sufficient. you could proberly sell the 2channel 600w amp and get 2 smaller mono blocks. 1 for each sub. just make sure the mono blocks hae enough power to run the subs so that the subs dont put strian on the amp. i was told you cant have too much power from your amp, just dont have too little power as it will be strained and proberly ****** up!

Thanks Mate,

Hopefully i will be able to find something to fit there, or just leave that amp sitting there and hook up 2 more speakers in the boot Will find another place to mount the other amps.

What would you recomend?

Also is there a significant difference between say 1 x 1000W 12" sub and getting
2 x 500W 12" Subs?

I bought a better amp for my sub last week and now its louder and better quality bass, just needs a tune up and ill be laughing. I can now use the old amp i had powering my subs to run either my rears or front speakers! :-)

I run a 15" sub also....

I would go a cheaper option of looking at the set up.

You can get more doof (if that is what you want) and not cost anything.

i agree with the above posts saying to upgrade your amps. i had a kenwood 4ch amp with 320w max. subbie sounded ok, only coz i had the top of the line alpine which let me tune everything to fine details. just recently i bought a kenwood mono block (which actually has 2 outputs) which supplies 900wrms. i have to have it turned down not to blow the sub, but the response, clarity and bass are amazing.
also, dont get a cheap option for your speakers if you want something along the lines of a sound quality system. its easy to get doof, its skill getting quality.

I am after good quality sound. the porb i have with the curent setup is that it just gives me way too much "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" instead of doof. Will try to tune it as much as possible tonight. then see about getting a new amp

my setup provides enough punch, i got 136.6dB from one 15" sub, and it is still quick enough to play heavy music and techno... its running on a monoblock amp aswell

Tad a go at turing it last night acording to cranners instructions and it sounds wayyy better than it was. Still i think the subbie isnt getting enough power. I have the gain on full, but i think its still not enough. Will hunt around for a amp now. Only prob is, that it will need to fit in the space i have for the old one, or i will have to redo my layout :(
