I'm sick of paying $120 a week on fuel, and with the price of fuel set to only get higher, I'm considering getting something a little easier on the fuel.
So, if I were to make that rather hard decision, I'm wondering if ya's could give me an indication of what my car's worth! It's a '91 EB Fairmont in Rosewood 3.9 MPFI Engine 4 Speed Auto Climate Control Trip Computer (Rather accurate too) Cruise Control Power Mirrors Electronic Dash Remote Central Locking with Alarm 285,000 or so Km's 15" Turboblade Rims with Bridgestone Turanza GR-50 Tyres (205/65/R15), 60% tread on the back, 40% on the front. New Kenwood MP3/WMA etc Headunit (New model, installed a few weeks ago) with Pioneer 4" fronts (original) and Kenwood 6x9's in the rear, properly installed, no plastic adaptors etc. Original headunit supplied in box. Genuine Ford Dealer Repair Manual for EA through to ED. Full Velour Interior in Excellent condition, no tears/wear marks etc. Climate control/demister controls swapped for new ones that weren't all faded. Serivced every 5000km's using Shell Oil, Castrol Coolant and Ryco air cleaners and oil filters. Owned by an old man before me, and driven sedately by me for the last few months - can't afford the fuel to go fast Still has the instructional cassette in the glovebox So, can anyone give me an indication of what it's worth? Quite a few, probably looking at 500kms or so. I'm driving to uni through peak hour traffic 4 days a week there and back, about an hour and 15 minutes or so each way, that's where it's using the fuel. On the highway, I get 8-9l/100km... I need to change uni's.

I thought about an LPG conversion, but then 2k or so buys quite a fair bit of fuel... and I heard that LPG prices were going to increase, taxed or something? Mmm, might research that a little further. It'd be cheaper getting a car that already has LPG, though.

Why dont you get a silvia like htat one you were advertising?
Thats wat i would get if i had some big petrol bills. Light + small engine= good, cheap, fun. Most silvia guys seem to get 10-12km normal driving which is pretty good IMO. |

If I had the cash, I would be driving that Silvia! I'll just keep the Fairmont, you can buy a lot of fuel with the cash I'd have to spend to 'upgrade'. I'll spend some time on the bastard, tune it properly... at least I know I didn't pay too much for it
Thanks for your help, fella's |

2008 the LPG will be the same price as unleaded fuel as it will incur the same federal tax. OPEC are limiting production to conserve natural resources for middle eastern countries. China and India are developing rapidly and are consuming alot off resources. Expect to pay a $1.60 at the end of the year for unleaded fuel. Most european countries already pay $2 australian per litre for unleaded fuel so get use to it. It will never come back down to 80cents again.................
Cheers Luke. Have a nice day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2008 the price of LPG will NOT be the same price as ULP.
the tax excise that is being introduced on LPG is being 'phased in', i beleive this is going to be over a period of 3 years and will still not being the price upto ULP prices. LPG is between 1/3 and 1/2 the price of ULP, i can't see it increasing that much.
