Hey all,
Quick question to anyone who is iTunes Savvy. Personally I hate the program, but when you shell out $400 of your hard earned for one of the fruity corporations glorofied MP3 players, its use is paramount.... Mate came over yesterday, popped in a disc of music, began clicking on each song to show them to me. By default, iTunes rears its sleek looking head and begins to play the songs. Mate pulls his disc out, looks at his watch, heads home. Fast forward now. Simply, the songs off his CD are now stuck on my iTunes!! No problem you say? Well becasue he took out the disc, they are unplayable. A friendly little "!" sits in front of them meaning that they will not play when commanded to by yours truly! Next problem. iTunes WON'T LET ME DELETE THEM!!!!! I've pushed delete while highlighting the offending tracks to no avail, and everytime i open the edit menu, the "Cut" button is glazed over like you cant use it! How the hell am I supposed to get rid of these!!!????? I hate APPLE!!!!!!!! Ah, now time for a prozac... |

All I do is right click on the song name, then select delete from the drop down menu that appears, then a confirmation message comes up double checking that I want it removed from the library, then ta-da, all gone....

GEt the Original CD back. put in computer. Copy Songs to your computer then delete them.
Unless they are in a Playlist, you can simply delete the play list..... I use MAC so it may be differernt for a PC...

The reason why you can't play the songs when the "!" mark shows up is because you must enable the option which copies the songs into the intunes music folder. Otherwise itunes just acts like a player - when you take the CD out the song title remains but the music file is gone :

There are a few settings you have to alter, it makes things easier to move/delete if you click on the manually manage music and video's, and turn off the synch so you only put in the saongs you want |

LOL at Apple. I would never buy an iPod, namely because I got my phone. My mate has complained about iTunes many times and doesn't use it because of it.

I bought a Pentium 4 1.7 ghz (same as mine) computer for the kids & put it in the loungeroom for their use only (DON'T touch mine kids) , mine is hooked up to the stereo & P.A. system for recording my LP's and multitrack recording software . When we kept to this agreement I had No Problems .
But of course "kids know better" and their computer is always stuffing up " not my fault" they say as they download all the crap under the sun . Anyway , daughter buys an Ipod & has trouble setting it up on their computer , so while dad's out I'll use his ! ! ! ! NOW my recording software doesn't work properly , won't default to Media player (even using set program defaults) , only ITUNES , it won't Defrag anymore , and runs slower than my old Pentium 3/500 . Looks like a full Format coming up . I can't get rid of the other junk no matter what I do . So guess who would LOVE to burn an Ipod & it's ****** Itunes :

Are you guys using iTunes on Mac or PC?
On a Mac the program is bulletproof, on PC however... Cant blame Apple for Microsoft's dodgy OS's. |

I've had no issues with it although some of the iPod models themselves are crap.
I do, however, wish someone would kick Nokia up the rear end for the truly awful excuse for a pice of software known as Nokia PC Suite. One of the things I've always used it for is archival of important messages as a secondary record but it has now developed the charming habit of dating all saved messages with some weird date (01/01/1601) and even though they can be read on the phone they are blank when viewed via the suite. At least they fixed the constant crashing in this version. Sorry to hijack the thread. cheers Russ
