Been wanting to post this up for a while lol it was such a weird experience on Thursday night. You know when your put in a place, by god or for some reason, and you think at this moment in time you can make a difference.
Anyway.. So Thursday night, I was turning into the oporto on Cumberland highway Liverpool and the lights went green the car in front of me went, so did I. I turned my head for a second and he broke hard. So I hit his rear end and we stopped and exchanged details etc.. Anyway this guy had cuts and bruises on his face like he had been in a fight, I asked him if he was okay. He said yeah, " I work in Cronulla Westfield's as an electrician and me and other mate got bashed by a group of aussies today, for being a wog while we were working in the back area" I was like OMG I cant believe this, this is insane. Then he started saying all the non aussies in the west have to stick to gether and bash the "aussies up" and he was going to find some tonight to get revenge.. I was totally dumb struck mate, I was like I felt so sorry for this bloke. Imagine that some one made you feel bad, because of the way you looked. I wanted to give the bloke a hug! But I spoke to him and said mate, you take the anger out on someone else it will just get worse, it’s a cycle. We had a brief chat and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I felt disgusted inside mate, it was the most sickening feeling I have ever had! I called him the next day and it ended up that he didn’t end up going out looking for trouble and his mate just did the usual.. This Australia day was the only one where I couldn’t identify with the flag, I didn’t know what happened to the country I love.. Its strange all we hear is about "race" and "Religion" what about "love" and "unity", its so easy you can hate with one reason - "difference" but loving takes abit more, but is so much better in the long run, safety, enjoyment and fulfilment.. When some one says "hate", I guess we cant sit by anymore we have to fight it.. I could have ignored the bloke when he said he was going to bash the aussies up but I didn’t.. I wish Howard would seriously spend money on national identity and bring the country together, instead of the millions on work choices! I know we are the majority but unfortunately the minority of ignorance has bigger voices and may polarise the majority! |

Divide and conquer. The majority rules... so what to do if you're not a part of this majority? Play the majority off against each other to your own advantage!! And no, im not talking about ethnic groups or religious fraternities. I refer more to 'general' divisions within the community, divisions which cross the obvious differences like faith and origin. What you said to this guy is so true. It's a cycle... An eye for an eye. I have no doubt we'll soon all be blind. Its not something i think the govt can address with budget allocations. Needs to be something more grass roots. But who in this country has the balls to take the moral high ground? To cop abuse on the chin and resist the instinctual desire to retaliate? Who is gonna break the cycle? Well, seems like you may have found one bloke. Another 20 million and we'll be getting somewhere EDIT: PS hope no dramas sorting out the accident!!

Great Reply,
Education is the key, This guy had rage, and that was it. I admit i was scared stiff telling this guy my views on it was iddiots and not people that did that to him.. I could see me getting dragged into it, but i guess i had enough of the polarisation of the community.. You dont think putting money aside to show people, hey were all australian and together we are invincible as a country? Thats what i was aiming at! like a marketing campaign on why unity is such a great thing! |

Had a mate call up a while ago to say that his younger brother had been beaten up by about 6 guys at a party. He wanted to get a group of us together to sort the 6 out. Anyway, to cut a long story short we found out that it was one other guy and the mates younger brother had been mouthing off all night and causing problems. It's amazing how much people can twist things. |

Im not racist, but something does need to be done about muslims and some of the lebonese in this country, its getting to the stage where wanting to hit them is becommin 2nd nature, i mean they live here yet terrorise the rest of whom live here.

The government is too soft on all trouble makers and the do gooders have eroded the powers of the police to bring on some biff and clean the streets. Minorities are on both sides. They pick on each other for what they look like instead of seeing the good. Thats ok because I think god will fry their assess when the time comes. Practice the truth and dwell on what is good..why hurt each other? :

Sure enough there are trouble makers whos background is Lebanese, or who may be Muslim, but by that token, there are a lot of trouble makers of many other backgrounds, even those of an Anglo background. I think the problem is that many people see them as 2nd class citizens, and thats where this infectious segregation stems from, for both sides of the argument. |

The biggest "trouble maker" I ever saw was a White Guy......my own cousin!! He lives on a council estate in West London, an extremely "multi-cultural" environment, far more so than any area I can think of here in Australia. He's now about 45 years old, active right wing extremist, football hooligan, never had a job in his life, been in and out of youth detention and adult prisons all his life. Good time for him is something along the lines of following his football team around the country and across Europe with the rest of the firm causing as much grief and injury as possible............right nutcase,........ point is there are many thousands just like him, but there are many millions who just want to get on in relative peace and harmony best way they can. Problem is there is so much inbred racial hatred in the UK and it's just getting worse, I really hope that Australia doesn't go down the same track........."but the early signs are unfortunately not looking promising." |

So how is it John Howard's fault what is going on the streets of Liverpool or Cronulla? Last time I looked it was the State's responsibility to look after law and order.

This had me thinking about my youth. I'm as Aussie as an Aussie can be.
In my youth all my mates were "Aussies" and we got into our share of trouble. My 12 yo girls best friends are Spanish and Iranian. My 8 yo son's best mates are Iranian, A Leb and an Aussie. My 6 yo girls best friends are from Iraq, Malta and Chillie. All of there friends are respectfull, nice kids, as are their parents, nice people. Where does it go wrong ? Guys at work keep saying that i havn't been "touched" by the Leb/Muslim/Wog factor What is that ? |

There's an awful lot of poverty and welfare dependence in the muslim community, and I stress the term muslim as opposed to lebanese. The lebanese group are predominantly christian and have fully integrated into mainstream society by actually attending the same schools as ourselves, been hard workers and have made a name for themselves through determination and guts. John Symond is a perfect example.
The Muslim community however has placed certain restrictions upon themselves in the sense that the purilistic insecurities played out in front of our eyes in terms of oppression of women, covering up of women, circumcision of women, welfare dependence and lack of co mingling with the wider australian community has done nothing to endear them to the wider australian community. This and the recent media attention to the spate of hate filled gospels and sermons calling for an end to our lives only serves to make more people ask questions. Then having the aforementioned same shieks telling their bretheren that we are all liars and convicts whilst the arab is the chosen people does nothing other than divide the community further. In NSW, this community loves the attention and is particularly appreciative of the negative opinions, as it allows them to play the victim more. Our premier being the member for that electorate where over 90% of the muslim population resides has only served to give alot of concessions to the most criminally active community in NSW ie the cronulla riots where the anglo saxons where locked up, and the revenge attackers had all charges dropped. I don't think we should bash them, but I don't think we should fall all over ourselves to give them any more special treatment - especially when they have had more special treatment than any other migratory community in this land. You can call me a racist if you want, but technically, muslim is not a race. So I'm a religoust.

The thing though is that alot of the opression of certain attributes of muslims are as just cultural as relegious.
there is as much cultural in this as relegion, there are a great number of muslims that wear the hijab and ones that dont.. I think regardless of relegion they are still human as we are. its easy to find difference takes a second look to realise we are all the same... |

Quite true, which is why we tend not to target them and allow some of their upper echelons to be re-interpreted time and time again for inciting hatred. That's also why we put up with their calls to end our lives through jihad (holy war), as well as tolerate their calling for Australia to become an Islamic state. Problem is though that these little victories in the name of free speech and civil libertarians secret agendas does nothing to stem the Islamic cult that calls for an end to the west, Jews and compares raping Australian women to a cat eating meat. Furthermore, with the internet and ergo a world of information available, people see a trend throughout the world with this one religious group and the fact that every war in the world today involves this group. For the record, I don't hate them or wish them harm, I just want the nonsense to stop and for them to be treated equally in the eyes of the law relating to crime and punishment. Surely, allowing one man to have 4 wives and dozens of children whilst unemployed is not in any of the child’s best interests encouraging a breeding ground for poverty derived crime. Surely, allowing one group special access to health and dental services whilst denying those who have fought, served, worked all their lives and helped build this great nation is not fair. A little impartiality from the authorities would go a long way to mending the rift. Oh, and John Symond is by no means my favourite person but he did serve to make the banks a little more competitive on interest rates. And I don't much care for his house either.

John Symond is just another business crook. You don't become that sucessful if you pay all the tax you are meant to. And his house is a tacky wog palace.

Theirs is always going to be a minority in every race & religion that is going to think that they are hard done by, regardless of what country they live in, & like good Australians we are going to say, quit your bloody complaining & get on with life, but this just doesn’t cut it anymore.
They are the minority group living in a foreign country that is not there home land, they have left there own country because the same was happening there. The best we can do is teach our children that this not acceptable behavior, & will not be tolerated. Trying to teach our generation this isn’t going to work, as most people are to set in there ways & too narrow minded, it’s the younger generation that is going to have to power |
