Command an Conquer?

Bah...

Ironically, I just quit playing Dune II, the TRUE ORIGINAL real time strategy for the pc.

The AI isn't as good, but I love the game itself. Memories.

C+C just doesn't turn me on.

Dune II FTW!

Also a fan of Warcraft II.

But Dune II is my absolute fave. 1992 and still rocking!

Used to play copious amounts of C&C!!!

Warcraft III was great, if you dont mind the medievil theme in place of modern warfare??

No, the best strategy games are always on the PC And, especially for games like Rise of Nations, the specs aren't that high, so you can even run it on an old banger.

I've played this and loved it as well.

I also have bought C&C Generals, but haven't played it much. I'm not much of a gamer as I am a programmer and are more interested in other things than games.
The C&C games are great, I have played most of these, as was Dune II ages ago when I played it.

Have always loved the C&C series; there's something about medieval/fantasy games that just doesn't do it for me.

Unfortunately, I've been stuck on one mission of C&C Generals - Zero Hour for 14 months now on and off!! :

The first C&C game was mind blowing (in its era that is... which was 1993 or 1994 or something), and the follow-up, Red Alert, was fun too. After that, I started to lose interest in them... they just got a bit too way out for me, particularly in terms of the weapons and vehicles. I like more realistic war games.

You guys know that there are more realistic alternatives to C&C though, right? It's not like C&C is the only game with a modern theme and everything else is fantasy or medieval bollocks.

Probably because Galactic Battlegrounds is really old at this point in time. There's a newer Star Wars based RTS kicking around these days, can't think of its name offhand, and its pretty good - although apparantly gets a lot better with the changes brought ebout in its first expansion pack. Just can't think of its name.

More tactical than strategical, Company Of Heroes is my favourite. Best RTS up until the release of Supreme Commander is Total Annihilation.

I can't believe that no-one has mentioned Starcraft and Starcraft Broodwar.

Best.strategy.game.ever.

Have wasted hours on this game. also warcraft II and III.

But C&C started it all off for me. that game was unreal when it first came out.

Recently got addicted to playing Civilization II again last week. spent my entire weekend playing it and got a sore wrist and arm!

I'm playing one called "Company of Hero's" at the moment...simply awesome! It's set in WW2 and its like being a part of The "Band of Brothers" TV Series...

Also looking forward to Supreme Commander, sequel to TA

I've also played DuneII a lot of times. It was a great game, and has already been mentioned started the whole war strategy genre.

I also like Warcraft 3 and Command and Conquer - Generals.

I tend to like most of these type of games but these 3 are the best
