Default Decent swap?

Hi guys,

Ive just been offered a swap... Theres an EA down in Campbelltown im thinking about, motor has done 164760k's, its CFI, he says the body is fine, only been off the road for a week and a half as he lost his license. Hes pulled the dash and gearbox out as he was selling it for parts, but he says if i swap mine i can put my dash and box in it. He says the motor in it is quicker than his other cars is (EA Spac). He only wants $350 for the car, or $175 for the motor.
Only thing is, Im unemployed atm and Im selling my bike for dosh, I was gonna put a 2½ cat back in mine with the money. My car is in my sig... Motor has done just over 200,000. Ive just put new shocks, brakes and tie rod ends in. The body is strong, straight, nothing wrong with it. Seeing mine has done 200,000 I was gonna reco the head but that will cost me $1000. How hard would it be to convert from CFI to MPFI with the parts from mine and would it be worth it? I asked him for pics so when I get them ill post em here... Ill post pics of mine when bloody Photobucket.com decides to go back up. So for now its gonna have to go on info.

So I have 3 options;
1. Keep my car and tell him to shove it.
2. Swap my car for his and use the bike money to put the zorst in that one.
3. Use the money from the bike to buy the car, change the motor over (and whatever other parts are in better condition than mine) and get stuck with the stock exhaust.

Opinions?

It means you know your car a hell of a lot better than you know the other car so why swap for no apparent gain other than you get to do a gearbox and dash swap. Why open the potential can of worms?

Thanks mate, very true. Only thing I really wanted to do the swap for is because the motor has done less k's and he says it's quick. I was leaning towards using the bike money to buy the motor from him and transfer it, then converting it to MPFI with my parts. 1 problem and 1 potential problem... I wouldnt get my exhaust, and Im not certain that it goes harder than mine. My motor isnt going as hard as it should though, but I suppose it hasnt had a tune in a while...

It means you are better off putting up with whatever your own car throws at you (coz you are expecting it), than buying someone else stuff and hoping nothing major pops up.

Ie would you rather step into the ring with a heavyweight boxer, or pick a fight with the guy next to you at a bar? You know the boxer only has gloves, but will probably kick your @$$, but there is a fair chance the guy next to you at the bar doesnt know how to fight. He could also have a gun.

mate......you cant seriously get that car...it has no dash or transmission so how do you know he's telling you the truth that "its quicker than his other car"... you cant take it for a test drive!

no CFI car is going to be quick......i would bet money on your MPFI car being a damn site quicker than it

you say your car is fairly straight, and the only reason you want to get his car is cos it has less kms.........how do you know he's even telling you the truth about the kms....its got no dash in it right

i'd stear well well clear of it........sounds very dodgy

if your motor really is tired, fitting an EB, ED, EF or even AU motor really isnt that hard....plenty of people here have done it.
you could also fit a 5 speed manual, which will make your car quicker again
also a better ratio diff will quicken it up even further

if you get the engine out of his you still dont know if its gana have any problems but spose ya dont know with any engine ya get.

mate i have an EB11 that was a 5speed (i bought it for the conversion)

its a 4ltr MPFI that was running ok before i pulled the gear box out
its in OK condition and you can have it for $150.
you would have to put the dash back in it and it has an auto pedal box in it + a gear box or trans and away you go

Can I get a couple of pics posted here? (So others can see) Also how old is the motor? And why was it running "OK". I need a good hard motor, though I do like the EB's.
