Default Interstate Engine Freight

I am trying to find information about Freighting an engine interstate, NSW to QLD, has anybody freighted an engine before and if so what Freight company did you use? .....

do I have to get the engine to a freight yard or will they pick it up from a private premises?

What preparation did you need to do to get the engine ready for transport etc? .....how much were you charged?.....If you have freighted an engine I would like to hear from you, any help appreciated.

I got 2 short motors sent from Victoria to QLD. Both were strapped to one pallet .Not sure on the senders end how it was sent but i picked the pallet up from the TOLL depot at richlands.. Cost was $120 and took approx 2 days.I was pretty happy with the service.

To minimise price you would strap it onto a pallet and deliver it to the carrier(no pickup charge)

I would phone a few of the trucking companies that are local (that go to Brisbane)to you for a price, otherwise just go with Toll etc.

I had my engine sent from Vic to NSW. FTG orgainised the freight. One complete engine straped to a pallet. Maybe give them a call for some advice.

Likes already been suggested, if you can organise getting it strapped to a pallent and delivered to the depot. It will be alot cheaper.

Where exactly do you want to get the engine delivered?

I want to get the engine transported from an inner west or south sydney depot and delivered to the Sunshine Coast (if possible) otherwise a depot in Brisbane.

Does anyone know any names of freight companies from these areas in Sydney?

I will be ringing TOLL and FTG on tuesday morning, any other names?

I only have a Sunshine Coast yellow pages which isn't much help.

For something like an engine i'd suggest trying one of the smaller companies other than Toll, Toll will just treat it like another pallet on a truck, a smaller company will take better care of it.

None of the big companies will talk to you unless you have an account. So that counts out Toll, TNT, Startrack, etc.

Try Palmtrans or Fletchers Freighters. Palmtrans may farm out the work to another carrier, but I know Fletchers will probably do it themselves. I have suggested them to friends before, and they have sent engines from Melbourne to Adelaide for the $100 mark, pickup from their depot. So they aren't expensive, and are reliable.
