Hi guys,
I own a 2000 AuII Falcon and it is a Forte with "platinum series" stickers on it. I was just wondering what would be involved in lowering the car to say maybe XR height and/or even further. Also I'm not sure if it has IRS, I'm pretty sure it doesn't, it looks like there are only springs, no shock absorbers, in the rear. Thanks very much! |

bring it into a modification/rim workshop, and they will replace the springs with new ones ... about $350

Its more than likely a live axle rear, NOT irs. IRS rear was mainly in XR's and F/Ghias & Fairlanes.
Like Nathan said, it should cost you a minimum of $350-500 depending on where u get it done. They should fit Kings springs. XR height is about the same a 'low' in the kings range. The next step down is 'super low' (SL) which about an inch lower than 'low'. If your extreme, you could go for 'super super low' (SSL) which is lower again, but bare in mind you may be looking illegal and could attract the wrong kind of attention. Also, I strongly recommend consulting your insurance company of your planned mods, or your policy could be null and void come time to claim. Be aware, that SSL's could cause your car to bottom out on speed humps amongst other things on the road. Ride quality could also suffer. Enjoy either way, and make sure you post up pics!

yeah it depends how low you want it ... myself, i had my cousins business put in 2.5" Super Lows, and i was happy with it ;) ... but then a couple of month's ago i had the springs compressed to Ultra Low hieght, and am going to get it lowered again ... but remember u don't want it too low, lol especially from a wagon! ...
i would recomend Super Lows ;) Before: Super Lows: Compressed: not that low ... but next lot i want the arch covering the actual Rim ... on stock 15"z

haha, thats classic Nath.
Yeah I guess you could get away with super lows. But SSL's are far too extreme for me. Seeing the SL's your car nath makes me want to do to this new beast Im getting. Dammit. :P Got to finalise sale tomorrow and then sell subaru first before thinking about it.

You might to consider fitting a camber / caster kit as well. My 2000 model had irregular tyre wear problems early on. Getting the kit and a good wheel alignment and balance stopped it.

Yeah thanks for your input guys, I've got 245/35R19 on it so I wouldn't mind getting the back to sit near the rim. I'll take it down to Mermaid Suspension and if i get uneven tyre wear I'll get a steering kit. Bob Jane priced it for $300. Also, I tow about a tonne every so often, should I have to get stiffer suspension ion the rear?
