Just wondering what effect high lift cams have on engine wear. Obviously they would increase it especially if you have heavier valve springs fitted. So im wondering how many kays are you getting out of your cammed motor before it starts ticking or needs a rebuild or whatever? I bought my car with about 100,000 kays on it and it now has 130,000. Since then ive had 3 different high lift cams and heavy duty valve springs fitted and the car now has a major ticking sound. I guess my 4.11 diff ratio isnt doing the engine any favours either with respect to engine wear.

it would most likely just be the hyrdraulic lash adjusters/lifters ticking... run it with the rocker cover off and work out which one is ticking then replace it
