Most people dont understand that when you change from say a 15 inch wheel with 205/60 tyre to something like a 17 inch wheel with 235/45 tyre that the rolling radius (height of the wheel, diameter etc.) only differs slightly.. if at all from the standard rim. until you get up to 19's and the like, the only thing affecting your guards or anything like that is the width. If you put 245 tyres on a 15 inch wheel your just as likely to hit the guards as if you have a 17 wheel thats 8 inches wide.
